1.We took Barney to our local relay for life walk which dd2 was doing with her brownie pack.
The best part was taking part in the 24 hour walk around the track.

  1. Yes we are always out and about
  1. Plenty of snacks , drinks and knowing where the toilets

are situated.

  1. Convenient snacks are very handy , I am happy to deal with portion control myself. But quick easy snacks are great.

5.yes , we had chocolate and strawberry and the chocolate were definaty the most popular.

  1. These are suitable to take anywhere , they are well wrapped and small enough for any packed lunch.

  1. What little adventure did you have with your family? What was the best part? We went to a local garden centre. The best part was girls choosing some new plants for "their" part of the garden.
  1. Was it easy to plan a little adventure? Yes, as much as it can be with a 2 and 3 year old!
  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs? Wipes, drink and handy snack that isn't too messy in the car.
  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family? Importance of convenient snack is on a similar level to oxygen. Seriously, it makes life much easier if there is something in my handbag that I can just grab instead of looking for something when we are out. Doing this also keeps the cost of days out down.
  1. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why? Yes, the kids love them especially the chocolate flavour. The fact they are individually wrapped and don't melt etc is a bonus.
  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.) Anytime we go out-I'll keep a couple in my handbag. Equally they are good for a quick snack with some milk after nursery when I get home from work.

Thanks for the samples Grin

  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family? Fairly important for some activities it's great to be able to grab the water bottles and grab a few packs of things.
  1. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why? Yes but I'd probably buy when in offer for £1 ish
  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.) would be suitable for a treat when heading on a day out

  1. What little adventure did you have with your family? What was the best part?
We took them for a snack after swimming.
  1. Was it easy to plan a little adventure?
Yes!
  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs?
Snacks, drinks, hats, sunblock, wipes, travel potty....the list goes on!
  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family?
The mood of the children depends on hunger levels, so if we are going to have a pleasant day then snacks are crucial!
  1. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why?
Yes, because my children love them, although I do tend to pick them up in the Pound shop!
  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.)
Anywhere!

Thank you for sending some to us.

  1. What little adventure did you have with your family? What was the best part? We went to Cbeebies land in the car and had a day trip to London on the train
  1. Was it easy to plan a little adventure? Yes :)
  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs? Wet wipes, snacks
  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family? Quite important
  1. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why? Probably not, I find them quite messy to take out and for home I wouldn't need individually packed cakes.
  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.) Pic nics would probably be ok.

It was lovely to try out, but I also have a 19 month old, who likes to eat everything her big sister eats, and for her I found it quite a messy experience...

  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.) Trips out whether full days or just a few hours. Most suitable for young children, although my older children and the adults enjoyed them too.

Thanks for choosing us to have an adventure with Barny:

  1. What little adventure did you have with your family? What was the best part?

We went to meet friends in the park. The best bit was being able to go whilst it is still quiet during the day, DD starts school in September :-(

  1. Was it easy to plan a little adventure?

Yes - it was a bit spur of the moment, but easy enough to sort.

  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs?

A drink, sun hat and sun cream, snacks if we're out for a long time / get caught out later than anticipated, plasters, wet wipes and tissues!

  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family?

It's convenient but not essential. The Barnies got squashed quite easily, so probably not a chuck-in-the-handbag item for us, more suitable for a lunch box.

  1. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why?

No, I'm afraid I would not because I think they're too sugary. I was rather surprised the most abundant ingredient in them was glucose-fructose syrup (especially with all the bad press recently about how harmful fructose syrup is), and that there was almost 10g sugar per cake. I think there are healthier snacks I'd rather the children had. As an occasional treat, yes ok, but it's not something I'd buy with the weekly shop.
My 4 year old liked them, my 2 year old didn't.

  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.)
Occasional treats - days out, birthday parties. Probably not everyday trips to the park etc.

  1. What little adventure did you have with your family? What was the best part?
Our little adventure turned out to be one big one as we decided to go to Legoland. Weather was sunny and warm and everyone were so excited especially Daniel and his Barny :)
  1. Was it easy to plan a little adventure?
Yes it was quite easy to plan, as we live not so far, only 30 minutes by car. We printed two of our Legoland entry tickets using Tesco clubcard rewards and bought two more using Kellogs voucher buy child ticket get one adult free. This way we manage to get our cost down as actually it is very pricey day out.
  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs?
When we are out with my son the most important thing: I need food in my handbag, snacks, cakes, sandwiches and water bottle. Of course wet wipes also make life little bit easier.
  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family?
Convenient snacks make life easier, of course I try to bake most of our cakes and biscuits from scratch but in hot weather when it is so unbearable hot at home bake something in oven makes home even hotter. That's why I try to avoid it. Packed snacks are easier as I don't need to think about packaging like with home made ones and all in all they work put cheaper than buying something at shops at parks.
  1. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why?
I bought Barny in past and will buy in future. To my mind 1.69£ is little bit expensive and I avoid to buy it at full price, but when you shop around you notice that very often there are promotion on Barny and instead of 1.69 it costs only 1 £ which for me is more affordable and appropriate price for this teddy bear cake.My son loves Barny, forst of all lovely shape, tasty filling and nice sponge. He is quite picky but Barny is his favourite buddy, especially in car journeys, plane journeys, bigger or smaller adventures and now at packed lunch.
  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.)
To my mind it is great snack when you are out and about as it is tasty and convenient.Time from time my son likes to eat Barny at home to, for him it works like yummy bear treat!

  1. What little adventure did you have with your family? What was the best part?

We took Barny to Dinosaur Adventure in Norfolk. DS loves dinosaurs so the whole day was great.

  1. Was it easy to plan a little adventure?

Yes it was part of our holiday.

  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs?

Spare clothes!!

  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family?

It's not something I worry about, I take a lunch if we're out all day but I don't believe in snacking too much.

  1. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why?

No as I'm afraid that DS didn't like either the strawberry or the chocolate flavours.

  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.)

A special treat, maybe a party.

Mummytoboyz7 · 02/07/2014 09:12
  1. What little adventure did you have with your family? What was the best part? - We went to meerkat mountain and Barny had to work very hard to get to the top.

He had to hold onto the rope of death across the valley, sail across the stormy seas and avoid the giant eagles. Not to mention avoiding capture fromt eh meerkats.

  1. Was it easy to plan a little adventure? Yes, with a little imagination the children were all excited to set Barny on his adventure in Nana & Grandad's garden.
  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs? Snacks, drinks, sun cream and bubbles wont hurt either!
  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family? Very! There's nothing worse than finding broken biscuit at the bottom of your bag.
  1. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why? I would whent hey are on offer but I swap the treats around so the boys don't get bored of the same thing.
  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.) At a picnic or lunch box. If he is thrown into a bag he gets a bit squashed so it's not too great.

  1. What little adventure did you have with your family? What was the best part?
We popped them in our rucksack as a quick snack when we went for a family walk in the forest, the best part of the adventure was spotting bugs on the path and trying to take pictures of them.
  1. Was it easy to plan a little adventure? Yes, we are always off doing things and needing a snack or two in the change bag.
  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs? For us it is snacks, a drink and a packet of wet wipes!
  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family? Convenient snacks are good for us as we can pop them in the change bag and they are available for both children when they are hungry, they are quick to grab as individually wrapped so that's great.
  1. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why? It would be better if they were a 6 pack as a better number for sharing. I think they are a bit expensive for what they are, we have bought them occasionally at the offer price of £1 for a treat but I wouldn't buy them regularly, I find them a little greasy. My 2 year old can't eat a whole one so a bit gets wasted. Both girls like the chocolate ones but dislike the strawberry. I would buy the chocolate ones occasionally for a lunchbox treat.
  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.) good for grabbing quick to pop in the change bag as a snack on the go and a treat in a lunch box too.

  1. What little adventure did you have with your family? What was the best part?
Took children on "a day out with Thomas" so a good and big day out.
  1. Was it easy to plan a little adventure?
yes. booked tickets, packed and went!
  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs?
Food, drink, spare clothes.
  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family?
Convenient yes as can be required at any time. Portion controlled - to some extent yes but I can do that by splitting/decanting/cutting, does not mean I need to buy it like that. I buy large bags of raisins/sultanas and pack into small plastic pots for example to take out.
  1. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why?
Children liked the chocolate ones but didn't like the strawberry (and neither did I to be honest). So I may buy the chocolate ones in the future but not often (see point 6). Despite packaging trying to extoll the natural ingredients, the actual ingredient list frightened me both in terms of amount of sugar (and calling it fructose/dextrose etc just covers it), but also the other non natural/chemical ingredients (presumably to help prolong its life in part). If I want them to have cake then I tend to make it, not hard to do so . Girls couldn't have cared less that it looked like a teddy bear!
  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.) Probably for me the bigger trips away where taking own cake is not feasible, perhaps for camping trips etc. the fact that it is pretty solid and comes in own cardboard protector means it probably travels well.

Thanks for letting us try them. First product test we have done and enjoyed it!

Yes it was very easy to plan and a little snack was definitely needed.

  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs?

  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family?

1.What little adventure did you have with your family? What was the best part??

We had a couple of adventures with Barny. We took him to the park for a picnic and also around national trust’s Uplands. We had a few car journeys where we found them really useful too. best bit was sitting down for a picnic and eating all our treats!

  1. Was it easy to plan a little adventure??

As easy as it is to plan with three small children. Not to mention husband. But packing snacks is always one of the things I seem to do badly so Barny helped!

  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs??

at the moment it’s wipes, nappies, change mat, travel potty, snacks, spare pants for 3 year old plus hats! The most important thing to take with us is phones and money though!

  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family??

It’s great to have portioned snacks. It just makes it easier and quicker to pack a snack and there’s no issue about sharing things out.

  1. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why?

Yes as we already do. They were most keen on the chocolate I have to say. The apple didn’t go down as well with the 3 year old – but 6 year old ate both.

  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.)?

Anywhere really, good for park trips, car trips or lunch boxes.

Here's a pic of 3 year old in the car on our way on an adventure. I think she might be kissing him!

Barny-Straw and Barny-Choc only arrived yesterday (due to us being on an adventure when the postman tried to deliver them at the weekened).
Here's what they have to say.........

1. What little adventure did you have with your family? What was the best part?
So far we have been to the Eiffel Tower.... but we didn't have to go to France, it has been shipped to Sheffield - fantastic!!
Chickywiggle has promised us an adventure every day for a week so watch her blog for our updates.

2. Was it easy to plan a little adventure?
Yup we just had to ask and Chickywiggle was more then happy to put us in her bag. She says they go somewhere every weekend and rumor has it there is not only a birthday party this weekend but also the Tour De France eeekkk

3. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs?
Chickywiggle said it's important to remember lots of snacks and lots of juice. She said we are a fantastic snack because she can pop us in her handbag without worrying about filling it with crumbs..... and looking in her bag today that is a BIGG problem.

4. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family?
Chickywiggle said that convenience is very important, however she doesn't worry too much about portion control. The boys reckon portion control is very very important tho and mummy doesn't take nearly enough treats.

5. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why?
The boys have asked Chickywiggle is they can try the other flavours and she has said yes, but only if they are on offer as £1.69 is really expensive. (fortunately Asda has them for only £1 which is a much better price)

6. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.)
Barny can be enjoyed anywhere there is adventures to be had, in the park, in the garden, on a walk, as bribery on the way home from school (oops I don't think Chickywiggle wanted me to repeat that one).

....... better dash before she catches us.
Barny-choc and Barny-Straw signing out........ for now.

  1. What little adventure did you have with your family? What was the best part?
We had an impromptu picnic outside preschool today after I realised DH had taken the car, the park was closed because of vandalism, and we needed a speedy lunch before taking DS1 to his school induction.
  1. Was it easy to plan a little adventure?
Absolutely no time for planning, but needed to keep 3 short cross and hungry people happy.
  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs?
Food. Lots and lots of food! And copious baby wipes.
  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family?
Very! Well the convenience thing is important, we are very capable of managing portion size ourselves.
  1. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why?
Yes because we all enjoyed them but only if they're on special offer. The RRP is too much.
  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.)
Anywhere where you need snacks that squish into a bag easily without leaving crumbs or needing refrigeration.
Moodykat · 03/07/2014 10:01

Thank you for choosing us! The boys loved walking around with Barny and playing with him, they didn't really like eating him so much!
I'm really sorry but my camera had a malfunction and I couldn't take any photos on our beach adventure.

  1. What little adventure did you have with your family? What was the best part?
We took the boys and Barnys to the beach. The best part was making a raft out of driftwood.
  1. Was it easy to plan a little adventure?
Very easy, it's usually just the food that needs planning!
  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs?
Food, lots of drinks, baby wipes and spare clothes!
  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family?
Fairly important but not massively.
  1. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why?
Probably not! They seem quite expensive for what they are and they have a lot of sugar in. Also, DS2 did not like either flavour!
  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.)
All of the above really! I think the idea is a good one and the boys did like playing with him!

  1. What little adventure did you have with your family? What was the best part?

I took my little one into London for the day. The best part was being able to give her Barny when she needed a snack. It was a hot day and Barny was perfect as a treat as it does not melt like chocolate and is quite substantial.

  1. Was it easy to plan a little adventure? Yes - an adventure can take place at home too.
  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs?

Water, snacks like Barny and checking the weather out.

  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family?

Very Important.

  1. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why?

Convenience, love the packaging as it doesn't mean having to open a big packet. I only take out how much I need.

  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.)

Anywhere really - park, days out definitely and even at home.

We love Barny at home especially the chocolate one.

  1. What little adventure did you have with your family? What was the best part?
Glastonbury festival ( so not really a little adventure). The best part was going to my favourite place in the world with my favourite people.
  1. Was it easy to plan a little adventure?
No! I was making lists for about 3 weeks beforehand.
  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs?
Food, drinks, nappies for the youngest, wipes, change of clothes if going somewhere wet or muddy, books if there's going to be any travelling or waiting around.
  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family?
Very important. As well as making sure the DCs aren't hungry, snacks can be used as bribery and distraction if things aren't going to plan.
  1. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why?
No. They tasted artificial and a bit oily. I'd rather make cakes or biscuits myself to take out. Besides, they got squashed quite easily so weren't as portable and convenient as was made out.
  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.)
As a very occasional treat if we were having a special day out. I wouldn't buy them for everyday/weekly snack as I'd rather my DCs didn't eat shop bought cakes on a regular basis.

  1. We didn't get to take Barny for a wee adventure in the end, he got eaten as soon as my 4 year old DD saw him!
  2. It was my fault for not hiding Barny so he didn't get to go out!
  3. I always make sure both kids have drinks. My son is quite fussy with food and drink. I pack snacks, sun cream, wipes, phone, money, camera, change of clothes even though they are 8 and 4!
  4. Very convenient to have individually wrapped snacks that don't melt! I always end up finishing off biscuits as hate wasting things!
  5. I would get the strawberry ones again. There are still 2 of the chocolate ones left which my daughter wont eat. I've not been food shopping for awhile, daddy has been doing it!
  6. Barny is great for in the car, and not as crumbly as a fairy cake! So less mess. Good for hot days out.

Was nice to see both kids try something new together. The strawberry ones are the definite favourites here! My daughter has been refusing to wear a top in the house in the hot weather!

Oh, my normal MN name is just BexieID but I couldn't get logged in on that!

  1. Was it easy to plan a little adventure?
Yes - We're always out and about.
  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs?
Snacks, obviously! Drinks and wipes are also a must Grin
  1. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family?
It's very useful to have pre-packaged snacks that we know won't get crushed or leak their fillings everywhere. These were nice and easy to carry with us and the children were very happy to eat them.
  1. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why?
Yes I would, the children obviously loved them.
  1. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.)
Any outing where we need to take snacks...basically everywhere we go!

Thank you for letting us try them out.

Yes, lots on recently to choose from but shared the Barnys with lots of friends on this occasion.
  1. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs?
Yummy food, and if we're staying a bit, Comfy chair for me ( 6 months pregnant)

1. What little adventure did you have with your family? What was the best part?

We took Barney on a short break to Portsmouth. The pictures are from the visit he made to the Southsea Model Village - he enjoyed himself immensely, even if he was told off for trying to ride on the trains.

2. Was it easy to plan a little adventure?

The adventure was already planned - Barney was an additional guest.

3. What are the most important things to include when out on a little adventure with your DCs?

Water, wipes, nappies. Remembering the DC like different things than adults.

4. How important is it to have convenient, portion controlled snacks when on an outing with your family?

Convenience is good but not essential - I am happy to portion up larger packs if it is more economical.

5. Would you buy Barny? (available in multipack 150g (5 x 30g) - RRP £1.69) If yes, why?

I'm not sure. DC1 like both varieties, DC2 was not keen. I personally found the taste oily and manufactured, so based on that I wouldn't necessarily purchase them again.

6. Where/when do you think Barny is most suitable for? (e.g. out at the park, days out etc.)

Suitable for any kind of outing where an easy snack is useful.
