Eric is universally loved for playing the flamboyant dad and partner of Mitchell in Modern Family, which has now run into 7 seasons. Eric will soon be on screen in his first animation animation as Duke the mongrel in The Secret Life of Pets.

MF is one of the best TV shows ever! The chemistry is brilliant and my favourite characters are you (of course) Phil and Gloria.

I love your 'drama queen' attitude - I hope a tiny part of you is like this too.

My question is what do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

Love this show - so clever! Not sure I love the fact my DH says I'm Clare Dunphy!

My question: after so long playing Cam, do you ever find aspects of his character sneaking into your real life that make you stop and chuckle to yourself? (Or makes your friends and loved ones stop and chuckle at you?!)

Oh my, Cam! Eric, I think we should meet because according to my husband 'I am you'. We've spent many happy hours watching MF as a family and I'll be crying with laughter, especially the parts where Cam and Mitch talk to the camera. I catch my dh looking at me with a 'that's you, that is' face :-)

As an adoptive parent, you capture some of the unique worries perfectly. "Adoption, yaay!!'

My question, in your parallel existence, are you more 'clown' or 'teacher'? Or do large groups of children have you running for the hills?

What's your best memory from working on Modern Family?

Am at work tomorrow so will miss the live bit - but just had to say we absolutely love Modern Family - I think it's the only show our teenagers will sit & watch with us! Makes me laugh & cry.

I love Modern Family aswell hence my nickname 😜 My ds and me watch it a lot (probably too much ) but it makes me laugh out loud. my favourite episode is the one where Lilly swears ( she's fantastic too) , which is your favourite episode ? I have to agree with others and say you are my favourite charector aswell !!

If you could take home any pet from the film, aside from the one you play, which one would it be?

Modern Family is THE favourite show in our house. Love it. At work today so can't join the live chat but my question is:

When you accepted the role of Cam did you imagine then that Modern Family would grow to be as popular as it is today?

Only discovered Modern Family a couple of months ago and have since been binge watching it! I've nearly caught up now. Absolutely love this show. All the characters are so wonderful, I can't really pick a favourite.

My question is, which is your favourite character (apart from Cam)? And who do you most like doing scenes with?

Another huge Modern Family fan here! I love the way it has brought gay relationships and adoption into prime time and made them so positive.

My question: did you enjoy voicing an animation? It strikes me as really tricky! Do you record the voices first and then the animators make the pictures match the acting or is it the other way round? How long does the process take?

we are such huge fans of MF in this house and regularly have the "Who's your favourite character?" discussion, but we never can decide as its such a terrific ensemble cast!

We just love your portrayal of Cam and think Lily is fabulous. My dh and I think the funniest thing we have ever seen was your reaction to the Christian rock band, my dh rewinded it like 10 times! On a related note, my question is do you play drums for real?!

My favourite episode is the one at Disneyland. I bet that was hard to film with all the crowds around! We were there last month and absolutely loved it. Did you get to enjoy the rides while you were there?

Hi,

Well imagine what your pets do when you leave the house and all the mischief that they may get into. I play Duke, a dog who disrupts Max, Louis CK's character. It's a movie about friendship.

DH & I love Modern Family & we all can't wait to see The Secret Life of Pets! Cam is my favourite character (no prizes for guessing DHs) I'm rubbish at intelligent questions, but I would love to know how like Cam you are in real life (I'm aware you're not gay) - are you as flamboyant & dramatic as he is? Also, how do you find the differences between voice work and on screen work? Thank you for coming to MN.

I'm probably not as easy-going as Cam, probably a little more tense and stressed. I would say I'm as flamboyant and dramatic as Cam but in different ways and about different things. Doing voice work is solitary and in very focused bursts of energy.

I love it! This is the second time I've been here. I like walking around listening to people's conversations, seeing the architecture and history is fun for a guy from the US. Our history is 200 years old! I like dungeons.
