Dear Mums,
l am here to seek some opinions and any advice. I am also here to inform that there is a huge gap in Ofstead service which is very shocking for me.
Briefly our child went missing from childminder. We found our child through strangers and was very traumatic for the whole family. 2.5 yr old little one was found wandering the streets by a man walking his dog.
It was a serious incident and Ofstead started investigation. It was found that childminder was over registered at the time of incident and was suspended for 6 weeks until investigations happen. In 3 days time they call me to say that childminder has resigned and hence they cannot carry out further investigation. This as a parent leaves me with lots of questions like how long my child went missing, did he cross the streets, did he went missing from childminders house or during school walk, what happened in the first place etc.
Ofstead argues that as the childminder had resigned they cannot carryover investigations on someone who is not in their register anymore and have closed the case. I questioned that at the time of incident she was registered and I have the right to know what happened as a parent. I also asked -does this mean that a childminder can do anything and then simply resign and no more investigation. But it is so frustrating I have contacted so many agencies including safeguarding, MASH, ICASO (whereyou can complaint against Ofstead) but everyone is either saying that same or don't know what to do in this case.
As a parent I dont think this is right and not sure what to do futher.
