Worried about cooking Christmas dinner this year? Fret not! We've got a couple of great foodie webchats coming up so you can ask the experts for their help. First up we've got NIGEL SLATER joining us on Tuesday (1st December) between midday and 1pm.

Nigel's third instalment of his Kitchen Diaries, A Year of Good Eating has just been published and everyone who joins the discussion on this thread will be entered into a draw to win a SIGNED copy.

Join Nigel on Tuesday at midday or post a question in advance on this thread.

yongnian · 01/12/2015 13:26

When do we find out about the prize draw (please let it be me, please let it be me) not able to step away from the webchat
juggling are you in for it? Or we could call it 'through Nigel's window' !!!!

JugglingFromHereToThere · 01/12/2015 13:34

I think "In Nigel's garden" is good because it sounds like a twist on "In the night garden"? But we can still peep through the windows?!

clare8allthepies · 01/12/2015 13:54

Nigel Slater answered my question and I missed it while out at toddler group! Waaaaahhhh!

TheSpottedZebra · 01/12/2015 14:46

Ah, what a lovely man (and he answered my 2 questions - yayyyy Grin ) and what a lovely webchat.

Fiderer · 01/12/2015 15:47

Yes, really lovely webchat. Bugger that I had to go to work but got a great tip about aubergines.

Plus he loved the sound of my parmesan aubergines.

yongnian · 01/12/2015 16:19

'in the Nige Garden' Grin juggling

yongnian · 01/12/2015 16:24

no I wasn't jealous at all fiderer Grin

Fiderer · 01/12/2015 16:51

yongnian Idea born of hunger and empty fridge :)

So can't really preen at all.

yongnian · 01/12/2015 18:16

Ah but fiderer -that's true Nigelism. And the man himself could be making it right now!!
Why oh why did none of us think to ask him what he was having for his tea, for gawds sake (facepalm)

laflaca · 01/12/2015 19:13

I read somewhere a few years ago that Nigel and the glorious Nigella Lawson are good friends. He's probably round at hers now, having a beer and a chinwag, while she rustles up some amazing nosh.

yongnian · 01/12/2015 19:36

They did a tv series together years ago IIRC laflaca that was on one of those food channels, so that makes sense. Nigella lorded it a bit over him, I felt. (not that I'm biased!).

LuubyLuu · 03/12/2015 09:58

What a lovely webchat!

Lovely man, lovely food ideas, and some (am sure lovely)
books to add to the Christmas list...

Fiderer · 03/12/2015 16:32

Who gets the signed copy?

Hallooo MNHQ? Or do I need to clean my glasses again?

yongnian · 03/12/2015 17:28

Yes tell me it's mine please us!!

Fiderer · 03/12/2015 17:33

I did ask MNHQ & the lovely Dawn said she'd look into it.

Cos Hugh FW's book winners got told right away.

Am resisting saying MNHQ is Nigelist or I'll be posting pictures of Sam Seaborn for OliviaMN until the end of time to atone.

yongnian · 03/12/2015 17:38

Oh well done fiderer course this means neither you or me will win now we've kicked up a fuss, curses

Fiderer · 03/12/2015 17:46

Yes. But, you know, the greater good.

yongnian · 03/12/2015 18:43

Anything it was nothing to do with me Grin

yongnian · 03/12/2015 18:45

anyway even! No one else seems to care 'part from me n fiderer MNHQ cough cough is there two copies

Fiderer · 03/12/2015 20:33

Ah well.

yongnian · 03/12/2015 20:41

There's only me and you left moping over this I think...fiderer it gives me a strong sense of entitlement which is clearly going to be massively disappointed when someone else who hasn't even bothered to check back to see who won inevitably wins
Also a Nigel-shaped sigh...perhaps he'll still be reading ths thread and take pity on us - he did like the sound of your Parmesan aubergines after all!

UrsulaMumsnet · 04/12/2015 09:30

Hello everyone, sorry for the delay in announcing this on the thread. The lucky winner of a signed copy of Nigel's book is MistressoftheYoniverse! Congratulations! Thank you to everyone for joining us.

Fiderer · 04/12/2015 13:26

Lucky Mistress

MistressoftheYoniverse · 06/12/2015 00:29

Yay! Grin
