Could we please have a webchat from someone on low ferritin in women?

Over the last few years I have spoken to many friends and aquaintances about women who have heavy periods and then suffering from a low ferritin.

Now perhaps not a major issue but the side effects and the diagnosis seem tricky. Women don't generally seem to talk about their periods that much.

They are tired and stressed, anxious, poor concentration at times. Life is busy thats how every body feels! Nip to the doctor eventually and a few women I know have been offered anti-depressants. A simple blood test showed a ferritin ranging from 9-20 in some women. A few months of iron tablets and periods investigated and they few great. My own was 2 and I felt dreadful, like operating in a fog. What I thought were panic attacks were palpitations.

Its just a thought.

Agreed, also common to have thyroid issues at same time with similar symptoms. I am still waiting to feel great and wondering how long it takes!
