Hi there,

Please see below for a message from the Office of the Children's Commissioner for England.

Thanks,
MNHQ

The Children’s Commissioner - Dame Rachel de Souza – works to ensure that children and young people are safe, and that their experiences are listened to by government and other adults that make decisions that impact their lives. She would like to hear from parents and carers in England about their concerns about their children’s online lives, and her Office is inviting you to apply to attend one of two workshops this month to talk about it.

The Commissioner wants to produce a useful guide for parents and teachers to use to help them support children to navigate the online world safely. We are speaking to children about the parts of the online world they most struggle to talk about with their parents. We also want to speak to parents and carers to find out what is most difficult to understand or discuss about your children’s online experiences.

We want to hear especially from parents and carers of children with additional needs, so we can understand what specific topics they would like support with, and what advice parents need to help keep these young people safe.

We invite you to attend one of two workshops being held on Friday 19th September 12:30, and on Wednesday 24th September 6pm. Please sign up using this link: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/CC_Parentsguide/.

I've signed up. I think this is a great opportunity for parents to share their views on the difficulties of keeping their kids safe online.

Last call for anybody who would like to discuss children's safety online! There's a meeting today at 12:30 and one next Wednesday too

My son was groomed online and exposed to adult live content and the police did nothing. Absolutely nothing!!!
What can be done about that?

We were fobbed off, told that we'd 'deleted it' so there was nothing they could do.
They could have at the very least looked at the hard drive!!
But no.

Because my son's DD had closed the tab where the dirty wanking pervert was, I was told we'd deleted it.

It was all in the history and the hard drive and still is.

I'm outraged as to how we were not taken more seriously.
