Hello,

As many of you will have heard, this week two women are being prosecuted for ending their own pregnancy, facing potentially up to lifetime imprisonment.

Alongside medical bodies and feminist organisations, founder and CEO of Mumsnet Justine Roberts has signed a letter coordinated by the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) to the Director of Public Prosecutions Max Hill QC which states “it is never in the public interest to charge women who end their own pregnancy” and urges him to issue “urgent guidance to stop the prosecution of women who end their own pregnancies with immediate effect.”

You can take action too - BPAS has created a handy template email addressed to Justice minister Dominic Raab asking for an urgent review of this and a moratorium on criminal prosecutions and police investigations into these cases.

Take action by clicking here.

Thanks

MNHQ
