MNHQ here: What's your experience of men staying overnight on postnatal wards in Scotland?

We spotted this piece in the Times yesterday about fathers on hospital wards.

(We're struggling to make this a free-to-read link, sorry - but in brief, the story is that 'Midwives have complained that expectant fathers are treating maternity wards “like a hotel”, including sharing beds with their partners on the postnatal unit at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, demanding meals, ordering takeaways, disrupting women's sleep and making some uncomfortable about breastfeeding - all things MN users have talked a lot about in the past.)

In our survey for the launch of our postnatal care campaign you told us you were overwhelmingly against fathers staying overnight on communal postnatal wards overnight (and of course separate rooms are rarely available). We thought this could be a good opportunity to take your temperature again and perhaps feed back your views.

So, if you've given birth recently (in the last five years) at a Scottish hospital, what are your views about fathers staying overnight? Did you experience this yourself, and if so how did it work out for you?

It would be really useful to have some case studies of Scottish parents who've experienced this issue so if you're feeling extra-benevolent could you confirm in your post that your experience was in Scotland - we might contact you to ask whether you'd be willing to talk to journalists about it (this can be done anonymously).

Thanks
MNHQ
