First 6 weeks after giving birth, why is it less than sick pay? Surely after either splitting your vag/having stomach surgery just to get the baby out it should be sick pay? If I fell in the garden and split my vag or had to have stomach surgery im sure I would have full sick pay so why is having a baby different?

First 6 weeks is 90% - that's loads more than statutory sick pay!

Sorry need to make it clearer - should match your company sick pay

Surely that's something to take up with the individual company?

Some employers have more generous maternity pay policies than sick pay policies (depending on length of service).
