Were you breastfeeding when you conceived multiple babies?

Dear all,

I just read that you are 9 times more likely to conceive twins if you are still breastfeeding at time of conception.

Is this just an old wives tale or any truth?

Have never heard this before, I had stopped bf'ing for about 2 months when I conceived twins if that helps?

well, i know a LOT of tandem feeders, none of whom have twins if that helps?

i googled and found it. And then another mumsnetter on another thread also mentioned it.

I thought it probably was an old wives tale and guess i was right!

I was - I stopped feeding DS1 the day I found out I was carrying twins (at 11 weeks), although we were down to 2 feeds a day then. DS was about 14 months then. Mine are ID if that makes any difference ? I would think it may be linked to multiple ovulation though (if there is any link).

Not me, i had finished breast feeding by about a year when i conceived my twins. I was on the pill when it happened though.

With my second set i took a chance 3 days before my period was due and conceived twins. I think i have eggs hanging around waiting all month in my womb!
