When did you first feel your twins move?

I am 18 weeks pregnant, and have felt one baby move on my left side for the last week, but nothing on my right. When you first felt your twins, do you remember was it one first then the other or both together? Thanks

I was about the same as you - around about 17/18 weeks but it was very faint for ages, and definitely just on one side. I can't remember at what point I could feel the other one but it was quite late on. I put it down to their position, which way they were facing etc. Don't worry, you often can't really tell with twins who is kicking you anyway - each time I have been for a scan I've been wrong about whose limbs were where!!

I felt some VERY faint and VERY irregular movements at around 18 weeks, but it's only been in the last few days (I'm now 20 weeks) that I've felt anything more regular and strong enough for hubby to feel with his hand too. No way of telling it's twins though - kicks are all over, but not in 2 places at once so no idea which baby is doing it!

I first felt DT1 at ~18wks but I wasn't entirely convinced it was baby. The day of my anomoly scan (so 20+6) I felt movement while watching him kick which was amazing. That evening I saw my tummy move for the first time too.

It can be difficult to know which twin is moving. Ours were both head down throughout so faily easy to track. Throughout my pregnancy I felt DT1 much more than DT2 because DT1 was much nearer the surface. However, we thought DT1 was being extremely active at ~36wks til a scan showed both boys' legs were under my ribs on my right hand side but DT2's legs were on top so it was actually his movements we could feel!

thanks both - that's reassuring

Thanks LL. All I know so far is that baby on left is active, baby on right not active yet Scan is next week and yes, we plan of finding out the sex - need to plan how we will fit 3 children in our 3 bedroom house (without moving out ourselves!). So far, pregnancy fairly easy, but SPD is back, and I guess the hard bit is still to come!

How's things by you?

Hi MamaChris
I was exactly the same. I only felt movement on my left side for about 2 or 3 weeks.
At my 20 weeks scan it turned out that on the left was one head and one set of feet so no wonder! They didn't seem to like my right hand side!! On the screen I could see their legs bouncing and kicking but couldn't feel a thing - it wasn't that they were still just that they were kicking where I couldn't feel them.
I am now 24 weeks and feel movements all over. Sometimes they don't stop moving all day and night and the next day I don't feel much at all.

It was late in the 16th week. I was having my one cup of coffee for the day and it felt like bubbles under the skin on my stomach. I thought it may have been the coffee but it kept happening. After that it all went quiet until about week 20. Then i felt lots from twin who was head down and nothing from my breech baby. I had to keep going in to hospital and getting her heartbeat checked because i was convinced something bad had happened, she was so still. She's now 10 months and loves her sleep. She must have just been kipping lots! Good luck with your babies!!! X

Didn't even look down the list before I posted - this is v helpful!

As per my other thread {Blush) I am 19+3 and haven't felt a thing!

headlessmummyoftwins · 15/10/2010 19:34

I was past 20 weeks - one placenta was at the front, and I am a bit podgy, so I was well insulated from any kicking. Don't worry though, once I got to 25 weeks or so I was getting kicked all the time.

goodlifemummy · 19/10/2010 10:40

I was 15+5 and felt one movement, then from 16+2 movements every day. They are 5 now.

I've had flutters from about 14 weeks but this is my 3rd pregnancy, they have stayed flutters for ages and I have days were I feel nothing but I have an anterior placenta. I am 20 weeks tomorrow and have very random pokes/mini kicks now but nothing regular and mostly on my left.
