did you notice any major differences in the early days of your twin pregnancy i.e. before you knew it was twins?

I know every pregnancy is different, but in this, my second pregnancy, I feel SO different from the first time that the possibility of twins popped into my head and just got me wondering.

I have been experiencing increased sickness, and sensitivity to smells. I am also feeling very.....womby! Does that make sense? I just feel bloated and generally more unsettled with my stomach. I am 8 weeks pg.

Well I had a DS then twins... and I knew it was twins before a scan. I can't exactly tell you why but it was probably most likely because I was vomitting awfully (I did too with DS but with the DT's I was on anti-emetics the whole way through and had been re-hydrated 3 times by the time I found out it was twins at a scan at 10+6). I also had a noticeable bump at 10 weeks. I woke up on the morning of the scan and said to DH "it's twins, I just know it is"... and sure enough...

I was completely fixated about twins from about 6-10 weeks. Not that I was sure I was having then, just kept on saying "as long as its not twins", mentioning that my granny was a twin and things. People kept on saying "you are not having twins" and at 10 weeks I started to believe them, I wasn't any sicker than previous pregnancy, and I wasn't any bigger. Therefore at 12 week scan I was shocked when I was told I was having twins. My mum's response when I told her was "but how did you know - you;ve been harping on about twins for weeks". I didn't know, I just knew I was way more tired this time round (but that might be cause I have a toddler) and that twin stuff just kept on popping into my head - it never occured to me with my first pregnancy.

There was a thread on the pregnancy forum about this in about January. A lot of people just know.

Good luck with the scan - let us know how you get on

We joked about having twins the week before we found out! I felt more sick then with dd1 and I had a definite bump by the time I had a scan at 12 weeks.

I was convinced I was having twins from the moment I found out I was pregnant. I'd had very few symptoms with DD1 and, although I wasn't actually sick, with DTs I felt almost constantly nauseous and shattered the whole time. I also 'showed' from about 6 weeks onwards (ie almost immediately I knew I was pregnant ).

I mentioned my suspicions to all my friends, who just told me my muscles had relaxed because it was my second pregnancy (and it was quite soon after the first - DD1 had only just turned 1). But I didn't tell DH - he was having a hard enough time dealing with the fact I was pregnant again so soon. So when we got to the scan and immediately saw 2 blobs, he was a little shocked to say the least .

Good luck with your scan.
