Hello

Very glad to find this bit of Mumsnet. Have just found out am 12 wks pg with twins, probably non identical. Ds was born at home no bother, but twin pregnancy labour and childbirth is totally new territory. So what happens? Do I have to get a section? Do twins always come early?

I am so ignorant and still in shock. Thanks in advance for all words of wisdom&experience...

Ooooooh thank you the multiple birth corner is the best bit of Mumsnet

Latest news here: having all recovered from vile tummybug courtesy of DS, we are due to move back to Edinburgh in a week and haven't packed anything yet. And we will be staying with my (fortunately very lovely) in-laws until mid June cos the house we're renting won't be free til then. Hmm. However I do have a booking appointment with the AMAZING midwife who delivered DS just after we move back, and the scan in the hospital is on 18th May. So then I will meet the consultant and ask her about protocols, policies, birth plans and suchlike.

MamaChris I will definitely let you know what happens! Congratulations and good luck with all pregnancy things. Good point MarsLady about policies often being more flexible than individuals, and not only in hospitals either..
Jennyroper sounds like we think similarly and am very very glad for you that your twin birth went so well! Here's to it being easier than the first time round.

Curlyredhead I tried to email you again but maybe I am being very dense and can't transcribe your email properly. Here is mine [email protected] , it would be great to get in touch. Or you can CAT me too (I think!)

mine came on due date and weighed 6.6. 7.5. vaginal delivery.

i had my bag packed for weeks.

i am of the opinion that drugs should be used wherever possible.

sure there can be complications, bu there can be complications with anything, at least with an epidural you can watch telly for most of it - and then if there are complications they can run you straight down to theatre.

but then i have the pain threshold of a gnat

Lol Custardo

I am a control freak though and the idea of being numbed up scares me!

I had an emergency c section at 28 weeks; i wouldnt recomend it but we all survived and all that matters is the safety of the three of you, try not to have fixed ideas of whats ahead, when push (?!?) comes to shove its not always in your control. Twins are magic and strong, have faith.
