Would a Phil n Teds work for twins? Anyone had one?

My dt's are 5 months this week and having a bit of a buggy crisis (sounds pathetic and prob. is!). We have a MB double currently with double carrycot and a baby jogger city mini double which stays in the car. Finding it a bit frustrating that we can't fit in lot of places, we were turned away from Pizza express today as they couldn't fit us in and I got stuck in a cafe the other week. Plus the city mini is taking up a lot of the galaxy's boot and ds1 who sits in the back has to squeeze past it every time.

I also have ds2 (2) who I regularly take on the school run for ds1 (5) and leave the twins at home with our part-time nanny. So I need a single buggy for that and the one I have is making my spd a lot worse. Also dp & I regularly take one of the ds's and one of the twins each out for a few hours so a decent single buggy quite handy. Was thinking of maybe replacing the baby jogger with a p&t to solve both probs?

I know p&t no good from birth for twins but anyone used it from 6 months? Pros & cons?

I used a Phil and teds when I was looking after dd and her same aged friend when they had just turned one. No problem at all, and both would rather have gone in the second seat! If they are both happy with the seats at the angle they are then I'd say go for it. It will feel heavy after the mountain buggy though, but it is probably worth it for the reduced width.

if you are going to keep the double mountain buggy and can use that if they want to nap, for long days out etc i think it would be ok, line the seats with either sheepskins or buggy snuggles and get a sport as both seats recline (very slightly)

Thanks I am going to keep the mb although we need to buy new covers as ours went mouldy in the garage (sigh). It's fab and great for walks round here, but I was thinking of having the p&t for our 'car' buggy and for outings to places where we wouldn't fit with the mb plus use it as a single for ds2. Is there no recline at all in the other styles littleduck? i saw once go past today with a 3yo in the back asleep and she looked most uncomfortable.

I've got a MB for dog walks and a Leebruss Zoom for the car (wanted something that would take car seats.) The Zoom is v big and cumbersome and I was thinking of selling it and getting a Baby jogger city mini double - what do you think about it apart from taking up space? I hadn't even considered a P&T! Will be watching this with interest... sorry no advice.

I have a P&T and love it. It is so easy to push and is the same size as a single 3 wheeler so shopping is easy. Mine both love sitting at the back so that isn't an issue. I have got the new sport version so the second seat reclines so it is easier for naps etc...

I've used it with both seats since my dd was 4 months. It works okay and as they get older will be better. It is very versitile (sp?) and I find mine very easy to manouvere.

moptop, the babyjogger is great, but if I was doing it again I'd buy a nipper I think so I had something just as lightweight but would be easier to push when they got bigger. Plus side, v.v.easy to fold, big seats, comfy for lo's, hoods fold all the way down & having viewing windows, lightweight. Minuses, handle not that comfy to push, shopping basket really hard to get into, no air tyres and straps are v.fiddly to adjust.

I bought a P&T sport - for the same reasons as you - when my DTs were 9 mo old and it has been great. Before that we were using a Nipper which I love, and still do, but it just wasn't practical finding parking space in Starbuck's .

I really like the P&T but wouldn't have been happy with it for 5 mo babies as mine slept in the buggy a lot at that stage and although the seats do recline (and my now 18mo DTs do sleep in it occasionally) it's not that comfy looking. I think maybe as a second buggy for shorter trips it would work but def hold onto the MB for the time being.

I'm sure when I tried the larger of my DTs in the lower seat he was too tall. He is a short-arsed 1yr old. Maybe he was not fully seated?

Could you use a P&T with one baby in the lay back seat and the other in a car seat using the attachment thingy? I often wondered that and could never see a reason why it wouldn't work. Not ideal for long walks,but for nipping round town it would be ok?

thanks dairymoo, it's good to hear from someone else with dt's & a p&t. I am keeping the mb as my main buggy, the p&t was for the car or when I know I won't be able to get into places with a side by side. the dt's will be 6 months by the time I actually get one, but I guess I could stick a car seat on there ,not really keen on travel systems but it might be useful at times.

The other main appeal is using it for my 2yo when I take him on the school run (the dt's generally stay at home with nanny on the 2 mornings I do it) but concerned he won't fit now! Shall have to drag all kids to try it out I guess & see whether it's just not reclined enough for them to sleep comfortably.

I'm just getting really fed up of all the places I can't seem to get to round here with a side by side and I'm not really keen on a powertwin which is the other option I guess.

We did exactly that with our P&T. Its not great, as the buggy ends up being quite unwieldy, but it works. And the P&T is one of the few doubles that you can get on the bus.

Once your twins get old enough to support their heads its a fantastic buggy as you can take it anywhere (inc. bus) and its super maneuverable.

Is your city mini still for sale?

OP, if you haven't already taken your DS2 to try it out, I think you'll be fine. My DS (4) still goes in it if we are out late and he fits no bother in either seat.

thanks clarice, haven't got to a shop yet with him but must do before I spend £200 on something just in case.

Update: went and saw one in Mothercare today and ds2 (after some persuasion) fitted in there with loads of room to spare! I think the dt's are still a bit small for it but might be anothe rmonth before I sell BJCMD and get hold of a P&T sport. Thanks all!
