Everytime dt1 is ill, dt2 gets hysterical at the thought of preschool on his own and I end up keeping him home too. They are 4 in march. Sept they will be starting school and dt2 will HAVE to go alone even if dt1 is ill.

Do I make him go today, or let him stay home again? Any ideas on how to deal with it please?

Bumping for you.

I wouldn't force him to go - there is a BIG difference in a 3 year old, and a 4.5 yr old (which is how old they will be in Sept). There is loads of time until next September.
Let them stay at home together

tyhanks ladies. That was my feeling, I jsut worried that I was pandering to him too much!

In the end dt1 perked up and they both went!

maybe after easter for the last term of pre-school let them both go one day alone so they both get a day at home with you so they get used to going alone.

my friends twins both go to nursery one day, both to pre-school another and then one goes to pre-school one day and one another day so they both get a one-on-one morning with mum. They are 3 now and have done this for last year or so.

hi chops when mine were at nursery I didn't force one to go without the other, although DT2 did go without DT1 once. But when DT2 was poorly last term and they were in reception I bribed persuaded DT1 to go without her and she did (she'll do anything for cake!)
