Hi all I came on last week, explaining I was expecting again, Well I requested an early scan to make sure it was only 1!!! I have now ended up with a couple of blood tests. On wednesday the scan found just a sack I was told that not to worry as it was more than likely at the early stage would take a blood test to know more, then back in wk for another scan. Well my blood results on wednesday were just over 1500 and today they are just over 1600 and they now want me in tomorrow for a scan as don't want to leave for a week, have now been told might be an eptopic!!!!! I don't know how this could be as they have seen the sack which in an eptopic I didn't think they could. I don't know what it all mean or what the blood results mean. AM scared

So if anyone got a clue please please let me know

Kat

I had a similar thing happen to me (HCG levels went from 4500 to 5900 in 48 hours), after an abdo scan where they saw a sac but nothing else.

Re:hormone levels - I read that in about 85% of healthy PGs the HCG levels will roughly double in 48 hours. So that means there are 15% of PGs where the HCG levels don't increase that much where everything is OK. But because HCG levels going up a little bit can be a sign of an ectopic PG they are being very very careful with you.

From what I read it's possible (but certainly not particularly common) for them to see a pseudo sac - so something that isn't actually a sac but just looks like one, with an ectopic PG - so because an ectopic PG can be so serious, they want to be really really careful with you.

Went to hospital, not an eptopic so thats a relief. Still just saw sack so docter said either could be early pregnancy or its not going as should be, as the blood results were like that its looking more like somethings not right.
So back in for another scan a week on monday.

Hello I am new to this site but have been searching for information on high hcg levels. I was admitted to hospital on Monday with sever pain to one side. The hospital performed a scan and confirmed that the pregnancy was not ectopic and showed a viable pregancy with heartbeat. The doctor confirmed however that for a 6 week pregnancy, my hcg levels are very high at just over 49,000. I am due to have my hcg levels retested tomorrow, but I am not sure if I should be worried of the high levels. Can anyone help?

Hi Cazzy, it would be better to post this in the pregnancy part of the site - there will be loads of people there who can help you. Click on 'topic list' at the top of the page and then scroll down and click on 'pregnancy'. Hope you find the help you need.
