Advice on how to find a good nanny for twins

Hello parents of multiples,
I am looking for a nanny for my twin girls who will be 6 months in September so I can return to work. Any advice on how to find a good one and how to interview her? Initial advice from friends say main qualities should be 'calm' and 'strong'.
Thanks for your pearls of wisdom.

It's probably worth you posting on the nanny threads.

Sorry I can't help with nanny suggestions.

Suggest you get in touch with your local Tamba club. Someone may be able to recommend a local nanny that has worked with twins.

I've got to know a lot of local nannies but going to baby groups and chatting to them. It's been a great way to find babysitters too - and you get to see how they relate to the children first-hand.

When I was interviewing I asked how they would deal with different situations. What would they do if only one twin was sick, if one or both twins needed medication, how they would deal with an emergency, etc. It gives you a guide to how organised and resourceful they are.

Found a useful guide here on Netmums too. Good luck!

I looked after twins of 6m for 6m on a part time, basis. Left to work for a family ft and sorely miss having twins.

I found it challenging, inspiring and extremely rewarding. Having trained as a nursery nurse I was in awe of the two mini people I was caring for developing and changing at their own, individual pace, whilst they were so close and (obviously) the same age.

The twins played well together too which was a big help.

So maybe someone who is up for a challenge, has previous exp, good newborn, early years exp?

Where r u based?

Thanks for all this. I'm based in Maida Vale.

good luck try www.nannyjob.co.uk if you sign up to their chat thread thingy there are many nannies looking for jobs.

I would at least want some one with baby experience if not twins then one baby and a toddler.

ask what they would do if one was throwing up every where and the other was chucking thier food all over the floor.

weaning twins isnt easy so ask some questions around that

ask how they will bath 2 babies - gets the answer around safety.
