Hello Shreks how you doing?

My twins are id and are very different from eachother. They have been since birth.

One is very dreamy but independent. She is quite thoughtful and analytical, loves making up complicated games involving putting things in rows and patterns and doing detailed drawings with every colour in the box. She is cuddly but only when she wants to be. She is fairly calm but when she does get upset she gets really upset.

My other twin is much more of a clown, more bouncy. She gets frustrated easily and is very clingy sometimes. She loves making people laugh, games that involve making lots of mess and noise and dancing. She gets cross and upset easily but it then fades away easily - sunshine and showers.

Aw, am working and missing them today!

I have identical twin girls aged 4 months. They look exactly the same but their personalities are totally different. The first born is calm, placid, chilled etc and sleeps a lot. The second born is much more energetic, impatient and hardly sleeps at all during the day. Both great little girls though

Pootles my calm twin is also first born twin 1 and impatient twin twin 2!

I have several friends who are part of id twins and they are both twin 1's and definitely the calmer, more adult one to their twins excitable more of the baby one..

Hatty, was your calm twin 1 also the larger of the 2? I ask because when I was told I was pregnant with id twins (at 6 weeks gestation so v.v early) my consultant told me the larger twin would be the calmer one and he was correct. Even during my pregnancy the larger twin 1 would wake first and give me a gentle nudge to let me know she was awake. She'd also wake smaller, energetic twin 2 who would spend the next 2 hours kicking the hell out of my internal organs.

I'm just thinking if he said that so early on it must be a common thing with id twins!?!

Yes, twin 1 was 7lb 1oz at birth and twin 2 6lb 10oz. I was sooooo huge by the time I gave birth!

Twin 1 was always slighter bigger all the way through the pregnancy.

My twins were actually in separate sacs although id - so I didn't know they were id until they were born!

Wow, great birth sizes, I'm impressed (and slightly envious). My girls were 8 weeks premature and were 3lbs12oz and 2lbs12oz at birth. Now they are 9lbs6oz and 8lbs6oz so doing very well thank God.

So glad they're doing well now, that must have been a tough time for you.

I was worried that my girls would be premature and was so grateful that we were so lucky with their birth weights and gestation.

Are you getting much sleep?

pootlesmum · 26/05/2008 13:58

Yes,lots . The girls were in hospital for 6 weeks after their birth and they were already in a fantastic routine being fed every 5 hours and going through the night before coming home. The nurses warned me to stick to their routine which I did and, dare I say it, its been really easy so far. Seriously, its much much easier for me this time round with routine twins as opposed to my demand fed daughter (now 4yrs).

We are very, very lucky with them
