Congratulations on the twins . Is this your first pg?

gemenaux · 14/05/2008 19:47

No, have a 3 yr old. How are you feeling? And is this your first? I have just found a thread for people due in Dec - there are loads!

yes there are quite a few of us. DS is 19 mo, so he'll be 2 and a bit when DC2 turns up. There is one women on the Dec thread who has twins already so she may well be able to advise

gemenaux · 14/05/2008 19:49

Oh cool - I will see you there!!

I'm due in Oct but am still a bit freaked out if that counts!

XenaWP · 19/05/2008 20:38

Hi there, just found out on Friday expecting twins end of November. Freaked out, terrified, delighted, astounded, mainly knackered. I'm 39, going to be 40 in 2 days, have 1 DD 4 in June, did I say freaked out?
deep sigh,
just remember to breathe!

accessorizequeen · 20/05/2008 13:36

Like moptop I'm due in Oct (they'll arrive in sept tho) and utterly freaked out when I found out about 4 weeks ago! Does take quite a while to get your head round, in fact I started some counselling yesterday. I have 2 ds's, 4.6 and nearly 18 months already so worried about 4 under 5 amongst everything else.

gemenaux · 21/05/2008 15:38

Hi all - need to moan to people who will def understand. Feeling dreadful, can only manage flavourless noodles and lucozade. DH and I are both in the Army and he is away mon - fri so poor DD is stuck with me, i had to tell her last night cause she was getting worried about me being ill! Poor little thing - she is of course beside herslef with excitement - so am now worrying htat if something happens to them (only 9 weeks) that she will be heartbroken.

XenaWP - Happy Birthday - how you feeling! I am 40 in Feb, and Accqueen - that will be a handful! are they identical ? - i dont feel too freaked as it means DH is letting me leave the Army after have paid back mat leave - yehaa - no more combats for me!!!! Although the Amry have been great amd am signed off work indefinately as really struggling to get anything done!

gemenaux, you moan away! I didn't stop for several weeks, only now getting to see some positives about it. Seeing them on 2nd scan (20week, I only found at 17 week scan!) helped hugely, too much in shock previously. Did sonographer say ident or not for yours? mine are non, boy/girl which I'm pleased about as have 2 boys already!
You are at the absolutely worst week, I felt dreadful at 8/9 weeks, as do most people I think! Be kind to yourself, I find it hard to remember I've two in there and rush round too much. Great that you're signed off work and take it easy if you can.

My ds1 still doesn't believe I've got two babies, we told him a month ago! He's quite chuffed to be getting a sister though - he's named them Giero and CarTruckFireEngine

accessorizequeen · 22/05/2008 10:31

Oh, and I'm 40 next year (which is why I thought good idea to fit no.3 this year!) too in November.

jennyroper · 30/05/2008 11:23

hello I am due 15th December, identical twins (I found out yesterday) am 12wks. have a 20 mth old boy so am slightly daunted but also excited. Am 33 so pleased to be able to knock out 3 children at the age of 33 then shut up shop!
I live in new zealand so 12000 miles from anyone I know but will be looking to get some help out here soon in the form of a nanny hopefully (cash permitting). Am fed up of whinging about everything to my poor husband but grateful to be able to put it all down to hormone bashing i am getting from the 2 wrigglers in the tummy.
yee ha bring on the chaos!

iamdingdong · 30/05/2008 11:37

my twin girls will be 5 on 14 dec (due date was 18 jan though) so good luck to you all, its hard, but great

GettingBiggerBird · 05/06/2008 12:01

Hi gemenaux, I'm due 25 December, twins were found at a 7 week scan after some bleeding so I'm keeping everything crossed they'll still be there at the 12 week scan next week. I think I'm still in shock, worried all the time and unbelievably tired. It will be great when the hormones settle a bit. Are you feeling any better yet?

ellac · 06/06/2008 18:26

hi gemenaux. i am 13 weeks pregnant with non ident twins. had scans on monday and still can't believe it!!!
went to have bloods taken today. the doc said that he would not do a test for downs syndrome as it is difficult to tell with twins! has anyone else been told this?
he reckoned from the scan that the twins looked ok.they are also non ident.

accessorizequeen · 06/06/2008 19:34

Ellac, yes I was also told they won't do down's on multiple babies partly because of the increased risk of mc and partly as it's so difficult to get an accurate result.

MarsLady · 06/06/2008 19:38

hello all. My DTs are 4. Do pop in on the d'y' ever threads and say hi. Lots of twin and triplet mums there. It moves quickly but don't let that faze you. Just say hi. Lots of experienced multi mums there.

I have 5 children and the DTs were the last.

blousy · 06/06/2008 19:39

momentary hijack - marslady, did you get the bp badge?

MarsLady · 06/06/2008 19:41

Yes I did (I've been run off my feet this week and meant to start a thread to say.. THANK YOU! He cried!)

blousy · 06/06/2008 19:43

Oh good! No need to thank. OK as you were, twinny people

JamInMyWellies · 06/06/2008 19:48

Girls head on over to the due in Dec thread. Masses of us there. Must have been a countrywide power cut 3months ago.

I have a few friends with twins and although undoubtably (sp?) its hard work they love their twins and I have to say they have much more chilled out babies as the babies learn to be patient much quicker and there is someone to play/poke/cuddle with straight away.

Good luck.

GettingBiggerBird · 12/06/2008 11:13

I headed over to Due in Dec but am the only one there with twins - I guess maybe any others are in shock as they've only just found out?! Just had my 12-week scan today so it all feels a lot more real (I was too scared to get too excited over the early scan). Looks like mine are identical, not quite sure how I feel about that...

Anybody out there?!

GettingBiggerBird · 12/06/2008 11:17

Marslady - I'm seeing you next Wednesday evening about being my doula, took me a while to work out it was you - hello!

accessorizequeen · 12/06/2008 22:27

GBB, I'm here Due 1st October with non-id b/g twins. I found out at 17 weeks, now 24 and was deeply in shock until recently! I do feel quite excited about them now, they're kicking a lot and it's more like 'babies/real people' than OMG how am I going to cope!
Glad your bleeding settled down and they're ok now - do you feel less worried? I don't know implications of id-twins as mine aren't but mumsnet is the place to find out I'm sure. And you've got mars as your doula, definitely a big positive!
