So i’m 26 weeks pregnant with twins.
i’m just wondering when the best time to start preparing the hospital bag is? I know i am probably over exaggerating. This will be my second birth but ofcourse it feels so different with it being twins and knowing sometimes they can come early?
I’m also stuck on the breastfeeding/bottle feeding debate as i combi fed with my little one (18months old now) but i feel like im gonna struggle feeding twins with a toddler who is very much a mummys girl.
Nerves are starting to kick in but hoping someone can help?

I'm 30 weeks with a singleton and have just finished buying all the bits needed for my hospital bag - I don't think you can be too early with this stuff, and I'd rather be prepared now than have to hurry around doing all this when I'm big and knackered!

I'd have your bag packed by 30 weeks. Are they identical? If so I think the max you'll be allowed to go to would be 36 weeks.

Everyone is so different, I was talking to a lady yesterday who had identical boys, she went to 36 weeks and both boys were over 7lb each. I got to 33 weeks and I had a 3lb 8oz and 4lb 10oz. We ended up in NICU for 3 weeks and honestly didn't need any clothes/nappies whilst they were in the incubator. I expressed my milk in the 3 weeks they were in hospital but then moved onto a prem baby formula once they came home as honestly I didn't think I would cope expressing and feeding (my little 3 pounder was too small to breast feed properly and she needed the extra calories).

Whichever option you choose in terms of feeding is absolutely fine, if you want to try breast feeding, fab. If you want to do a mixture of breast and formula, fab. If you want to do formula only, fab!

Good luck, twins are great 😀

They are non identical boy&girl!
which is what i am too and we came at about 36 weeks (i know everyone is different!)
i know this time i 100% need to take a bigger bag and stock up on the lucosade sports as they were my fave in labour. If you dont mind me asking were yours c section or natural birth?
this is another decision i am feeling a bit worried about at the minute x

I would go ahead and do it - it doesn’t hurt to have it done. I am NOT SAYING that they will be prem or anything, just as it’s a second pregnancy and twins they probably aren’t going to take their time so you may as well tick it off your list.

I had my bag packed from around 30 weeks ish. My partner did not, and spent a frantic 20 mins throwing his stuff into a bag while I was contracting away - they told me to go straight in when my labour started, I was 36+2.

We are expecting twins and are planning to be all sorted by week 30 (hopefully -we are only at week 13!). So pram purchased, as well as car seats, cots, Moses baskets etc. Plus hopefully nursery done. Bags packed

If I had my time again I’d take a pull along suitcase and my own pillow 😂

I had a C Section and right from finding out I was having twins I was totally adamant I was having a C Section. The consultant tried to convince me otherwise but I had already made my mind up. We’d gone through years of IVF and I just wanted them here quickly. In the end the decision got taken out of our hands when my little one stopped growing which is why they came at 33 weeks. But that’s just my experience/anxieties, I know of lots of twin mums who had their babies naturally with no issues.

I had my boy/girls twins 5 years ago at 38+5 by elective C-section as baby 2 was transverse presentation. I had bags packed from 28 weeks which is also the time I was signed off work as I was struggling to walk/drive. I breastfed. It was incredibly hard work in the beginning but I managed to do it for over 2 years. If you are planning on breastfeeding a twin feeding pillow is your new best friend!

How are you getting on now @mumlife18?

momtoboys · 28/11/2022 21:15

Congratulations! I have had a singleton birth and two sets of twins. The single birth was my first and I packed for hospital very early. For my twins I procrastinated until the last minute. Both my twin sets went to 39 weeks. I breastfed my first three but my last two had facial birth defects and were unable to latch so they were syringe fed with a long tube on the end.

mumlife18 · 30/11/2022 20:31

Hey hospital bag is still being prepped currently! But i am doing okay thankyou. Last appointment i had they said i had protien in my urine so i am just waiting for some results on those and also have swollen ankles😅Currently 32 weeks now so i dont have much longer.
i feel ready to not be pregnant now as the past couple of weeks have become a struggle😅 i’m so nervous for birth but i guess they have to come out one way or another🤦🏼‍♀️😂xx
