Hey all,

Not posted a massive amount but love the posts and have found them extremely helpful. Thanks

I am currently 14+4 with MCDA twins who are due in June 22 but will more than likely make an appearance late May we think . I already have 2 boys, 15 + 8.

Anyway- I wanted to ask for some helpful tips and and advice on getting the most value for our money! What do I need for twins that's different to a singleton (apart from the obvious) anything to consider that I may not have even thought of? I feel like it's been literally forever since I was last pregnant and I think I have forgotten too much Grin

Any suggestions on sites/websites that will help our money last a little longer?

I'm a fan of FB selling sites, local groups and eBay.

I'm just massively aware that we could potentially only have 5 wages left and have a s!!t load to buy! As well as the usual running of the house and 2 already etc.

Any brands to avoid? Anything to look into?

Thanks so much in advance Thanks

Hi, congratulations on your twin pregnancy. I have nearly 3 year old twins girls

Find your local twins Facebook group, the support and advice will be invaluable. You can also get cots etc on there.

In terms of pram we went for the out n about double nipper. We went to a baby store in York, which was the only place that actually had one in their showroom. The lady there said that people buy the bugaboo donkey or the icandy, but ultimately come back in 6-12 months later to buy the nipper. Only downside is that you can’t put car seats direct onto the frame. This was a massive compromise for us but in the end it was worth it. If you don’t want to compromise on that then I’d go for the mountain buggy. Both of which you can find great second hand options on FB.

I was gifted sooo much stuff and I gratefully received it all. My SIL gave me bags & bags of clothes, at first it was overwhelming but I really have used everything.

Also look out for your local NCT sales, next one is March I think, you can pick up some massive bargains there.

Good luck with your pregnancy, twins are the best xx

Oh the other thing that I thought of, don't go for any fancy expensive high chairs, the ones from Ikea are the absolute best ones. They're cheap from new but you can always find someone selling them on the twins selling sites.

Congratulations!
I buy nearly everything for my twins (and their older brother) on eBay. Clothes bundles are the way to go, and we got the chassis for our Mountain Buggy for cheap. Baby Bjorn bouncers for a fraction of the new price and are perfectly good- I would say bouncers are one of those things where you do want two, especially if you have older kids- you sometimes just want to park the babies somewhere.
We also have them both sharing a regular sized cot, rather than spending money on two cribs.

The things I have wasted money on and regret:
Breast pumps (panic bought, no time to pump, sold at a massive loss)
Twin baby carrier (they hated it, I couldn't work it out, and now that they are 5 months old they are too heavy for me to carry both for long)
Fancy new carrycots for the buggy.

Oh and if you join Twins Trust they have lots of discounts are various places, like Clarks.

If you have same sex twins (sounds like it if they’re MCDA) and they’re a similar size they can share clothes. So you don’t need twice as many, as you’ll do washes more frequently.

We had two bouncy chairs when younger bought second hand on EBay- will be reselling them again shortly. Bought a jumperoo from marketplace for £15- it’s pink but my boys are too young to care. Likewise, I bought some pink sleeping bags half price in the sale as it’s not like anyone will see them wearing them. They shared a Next To Me then I used DD’s cotbed when they outgrew that. We had two Joie spin seats from DD so they’re being reused for the twins.

EBay or marketplace are good for big ticket items like travel systems and buggies. Bought an old Out And About double Nipper from marketplace to try and then decided to buy another new one in the Black Friday sale as we’d get the use out of it over the next couple of years, and they hold their value well.

Good luck with your pregnancy!

Thanks so much all!

I am a massive fan of marketplace and eBay already which is helpful - I do love a bargain Smile

I have been tempted to invest in a decent second hand pump...but nay hold out and see how I get on with BF them both first, I'm going to try anyway.

Genuinely can't get over how expensive prams are now!!! (I sound old!)

I'll definitely be getting them to share as much as I can- for money and space.

Thanks very very much for all the helpful replies! Xx
