Hello,

Just for fun - for those with twins who went into
Labour naturally, when did it happen?

(Have heard something mad like 50% come before 36 weeks?!)

Hello!
34 weeks.
Went into labour naturally and ended up with an emergency section after 3 hours due to twin 1 getting stuck.

@poorbuthappy

Hello! 34 weeks. Went into labour naturally and ended up with an emergency section after 3 hours due to twin 1 getting stuck.

Oh gosh, 34 weeks for me is Xmas day lol. Were they OK or need a lot of time in NICU? X

I had a planned c section at 37 weeks. They showed no signs of being ready to come out before then!

Bean18 · 14/12/2021 20:38

My DCDA twins came at 36+5 after a stretch and sweep the day before (it worked for my eldest and was performed by the same midwife). Delivered both naturally and one was breech so it is possible 😊 no NICU needed!

itwasntaparty · 14/12/2021 20:44

31+3, section had been booked for 36 weeks. We had complications though so early labour was expected.

ElbowsandArses · 14/12/2021 20:50

34+6 here. Waters broke at half noon, Dt1 born at 2:20 pm & Dt2 20 mins later. Didn’t have time for and epidural but it was all fine. I had pre-eclampsia tho so would have been induced that day if they’d not arrived. My sister who also had twins delivered spontaneously at 37 weeks.

GingersRum · 14/12/2021 21:00

Induced at 39+6, they were way too comfortable and showed no sign of coming naturally. I, on the other hand was not comfortable at all!

salcombebabe · 14/12/2021 21:06

36 weeks and 4 days for mine, twin 1 weighed 6lbs 8ozs and twin 2 5lbs 8.5ozs

doodlejump1980 · 14/12/2021 21:08

Induced at 37+6. Twins were 7lbs5 and 6lbs4!

Nahhh · 14/12/2021 21:09

Mine were delivered at 36+1 due to preeclampsia. They hadn’t shown any signs of coming on their own at that point.

MuchTooTired · 14/12/2021 21:12

Mine were delivered by surprise elcs at 36+5 due to severe pe. I’ve never been so glad to get ill, I honestly don’t think they’d have come out without assistance! They weighed 6lb 6oz and 7lb 3oz and didn’t need any scbu time.

Abstardust · 14/12/2021 21:15

Went into labour at 37 weeks, was actually booked to be induced same day but they decided they were ready to come.

Quornflakegirl · 14/12/2021 21:18

DCDA twins and planned C-section at 38+0 due to them both being transverse. Went into labour at 34+5, they were born by C-section that day.

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 14/12/2021 21:22

Waters broke at 38 weeks just as we were about to go out for lunch! Contractions began 6 hours later and girls were born the following day weighing 6lb2oz and 6lb.

Quornflakegirl · 14/12/2021 21:26

To add, I went into labour early but the babies were pretty decent weights at 5lb4 and 5lb8 so going to 38 week would have meant two 9lb babies, your body will do the right thing more often than not.

BewareTheRedNosedDragon · 14/12/2021 22:04

I went into labour naturally at 36 weeks, but they got stuck both head down neither making way for either to go first so ended up with an emergency section, which didn't feel like an emergency because while they did need to come out it wasn't time sensitive in the very short term so pretty chilled experience.
They were as per pp a decent size for twins at 5lb2 and 5lb10.

My later singletons were 8lb10 and 8lb13, so all in all I think the body knows what it's doing starting things earlier with twins.

TheMagicDeckchair · 15/12/2021 17:07

Went in to be induced at 37+3. I was already 5cm dilated and my waters went at examination!

They weighed 7lb 1oz and 6lb 5oz.

poorbuthappy · 16/12/2021 14:16

@tilly2019 I was booked in for a section on the 19th December so it was a double edged sword going into labour early for obvious reasons.
Birth weights were 3lb 14 and 4lb 2. There was some CPAP needed by the heavier twin as well, which I missed as I was in recovery for 24 hours as my blood pressure wouldn't bloody drop!

They went in special care from the 2nd Dec to the 19th Dec when they came home.
