Hi I was wondering if anyone here has had 2 sets of twins? Any tips for how to manage the (4?!!!!) of them would be much appreciated

Blimey OP! Is this you? how old are your first set, and are you pregnant now with twins?

I only have one set, but I know someone with two, born within two years of each other. She was super laid back, I've no idea how she did it.

MollysDolly · 10/11/2021 12:58

As a fellow twin mum, you'll manage these exactly how you managed your first.

You know all the differences with having simultaneous newborns, so this is an advantage. You have two older children, which you haven't mentioned the ages of, but must be at least 2, nearing 3 when these are born? Logistics wise, twins are only a "pain" with regards to requiring two pairs of hands simultaneously when they are little.

Re 4 children, probably a bigger car required.

And congratulations, I'm very jealous!! Twins are awesome xx

It is me, very surprised that this happened on first of this round of ivf, took 5 years with the first two! They will be 18months when the new babies are born...if they come on due date but my first 2 were 2 months early. It’s all abit crazy but likely to have 4 boys under 2 🙈

I know someone with a singleton, then triplets 13 months later.
They bought the multimax 4 seater car configuration

Your going to need a bigger pram.

FreeBritnee · 10/11/2021 13:16

Can you afford to buy in help? I recently watched a Super Nanny where the family had two sets of twins and a singleton. It struck me that the main issue was not enough adults.

BuffyFanForever · 10/11/2021 13:26

I think we’ll be ok as we have a 7 seater car (no more lifts for anyone else though lol) but unfortunately no to the hiring any help! Definitely need to look at prams again, does anyone know what age they can use those buggy boards on the back?? Thanks for the tips all - trying not to panic!

My husband’s colleague had a 4 year old, a 2 year old and then triplets. Not quite the same but similar.

Buggy boards are probably 2.5+ in my opinion. I’ve got 2 years between my singles and bought a double pram.

Babyiskickingmyribs · 10/11/2021 13:33

You need something like this as a buggy. Although I’m not sure what you do before the babies can sit up. Maybe talk to some childminders or nurseries about what they use. childhome.com/en/going-out/buggies-and-strollers/multi-seat-strollers

PinkPlantCase · 10/11/2021 13:36

I’d be tempted to buy a bike with one of those big boxes on the front for transporting children!

Congratulations OP 🎉

raintropics · 10/11/2021 13:37

Wow, congratulations!

WhatsWrongWithMyUsername · 10/11/2021 14:13

Congratulations! Wow that’s a small age gap too!

My friend with triplets had a triple buggy, so one of those plus a baby in a sling?

At 18 months the older twins are unlikely to be good enough at walking in the right direction/ standing on a buggy board. Once they are, my toddler had a little backpack that had a lead, so I could hold the lead and push the pushchair at the same time.

That’s assuming you want/need to go outside for the first few months….

This one you can put the youngest lying flat. I’ve seen a childminder in my neighborhood with it. It’s out of stock though.

giraffesateleaves · 10/11/2021 21:50

You had twins 9 months ago and had ivf and got twins again.. wow. Amazing. I've seen triple pram, but you probably need something more commercial for four . Your first set will hopefully start walking around when your new ones arrive, but too tiring for buggy boards.

giraffesateleaves · 10/11/2021 21:52

Here's a commercial one

Until recently I was working in a baby room. We had 4 seater buggies but they would not be suitable for newborns so be careful.
My older two had a 19 month gap and dd1 wouldn't have managed a buggy board at that age.

SunshineCake1 · 10/11/2021 22:02

Wow, I wouldn't have known IVF was available again.

Imitatingdory · 10/11/2021 22:13

Either the ABC adventure buggy or T4 quad jogger would fit the bill.

Cheeseraffle · 10/11/2021 22:22

Family member had single, twins, single, twins so 6 under 6 (in the 1940s)
Everyone survived, did well and their mother kept her marbles until her 80s

BuffyFanForever · 11/11/2021 06:13

@SunshineCake1 we never had any funding at all for any fertility treatment as a same sex married couple so it was self funded through serious hard work.

@Cheeseraffle love that - if I can keep my marbles for even a few years I’ll be happy!

Everyone else thanks lots for the tips on buggies! Really appreciate it.

My fertility declined really severely hence the rush into this round of ivf. They said it was now or never basically.
