Please help-in order to cheer my sister up can we have an "in praise of twin boys thread"

My sister is expecting identical twin boys and feeling down as a result of getting herself in a state about the whole thing-coping, money,going back to work etc.

I have twin 4 year old boys myself and a 3 year old dd and think the chaos of our lives has petrified her.

Could you just say what you love about having twin boys to cheer her up.

I love that after the first 10 months, they keep each other occupied and they play lovely together, (just to clarify, I do interact with my boys, and we do lots together as a family too) . I love that they are so close and love each other.

My twin boys will be 4 months old on Saturday and although I had mixed emotions when told I was expecting twins and then was really secretly hoping they'd be girls (but found out at 20week scan that it was 2 boys so had lots of time to adjust), I now of course wouldn't swap them for the world. They are so sweet and so funny and like nothing better than making me laugh with their silly face-pulling and other antics. I just hope they stay this cute forever!

PS Money is a problem BUT you can buy so much stuff on ebay - just search on twins or twin + bundle. Some baby stores also offer good discounts for multiples. If she's in London, tell her to try Lilliputs in Battersea - we bought all our big items like cots etc there and saved loads cos of teh discount.

I haven't found an answer for the going back to work thing...

I have 4 year old twin boys and they're wonderful. Of course you never have a minute to yourself, your carpets will never be the same, your house filled with plastic junk and no new clothes for yourself for a LONG time...

But getting two lots of 'i love you mummy' and two hugs and two kisses every night makes up for it!

ps: money wise - it's tough but you can make some economies in some places if you do your homework.
Plus try your local twin club. Most people can't wait to offload all their baby stuff.

I've got loads of twinny stuff that people gave me and which I'm more than happy to pass on! And I'm sorry I've been so crap at contacting you for a RL coffee. The boys are 14 months now and such fun! The house always looks as though the wreckers have been in, but hey, I just don't care! DT1 is currently playing the throw-as-many-bricks-as-you-can-at-the-Christmas-tree game, and DT2 is so full of snuggles and cuddles that it's quite difficult to put him down. The Christmas tree is in the playpen, along with a variety of presents, some coal, bricks, a stamp set of DD's and who knows what else. So life with twins is fab! You may remember how horror struck I was when I found out I was having twins, and boys at that. No longer! Love 'em!

Coffee after Christmas? DD1 at school now so life is a bit easier to organise (har har!). xx

We're Drogo-ing today! Spent yesterday making ginger biscuits and then at a friend's house, except that most of the time I was trying to stop the boys attacking everything. DT2 was retrieved from the fire place with a mouthful of coal, whilst I was disengaging DT1 from the stairs (they're so exciting!).

Anyway, I have clothes, a car seat, probably a rocking chair, possibly bouncy chairs, and various other bits and pieces that your sis is more than welcome to. In fact it will be doing me a favour to have them removed! Do you think she'd mind giving me a small amount for the car seat as I bought that myself? Everything else was given to us. Give me a ring after the madness is over. xx

I have identical twin boys - who will be 5 in two weeks time. You know twins are not easy to begin with - but I honestly think there is no problem with boys. Mine are generally great together (complications usually only kick in when their older brother is in the mix ).

Money - well you just cope - and accept hand me down gratefully.

Interesting Throckenholt, the more stressful times often involve all 3 with me too, when it's just 2 playing whether it be a dt and dd or 2 x dts it can actually be quite serene on occasions,yes really

Little sister sooooo not going to believe me but they are pretty good most of the time. Our house is only really big enough for 2 kids so the chaotic times are often the result of 3 energetic kids squashed in a tiny house or me getting stressed when we're late.

There is something about twin boys that I really love- the minxyness and energy. Having a house full of dinosaurs, pirate ships etc is lovely too. Hearing them talk to each other when they don't think we're listening is a hoot.

that I can believe ! having twins without having to be pregnant with them would be the best combination !
