At what age did you move your twins to their own room?

Just curious. I assume most parents have them in one room when they're babies for practicalities sake. But (those with the space obv) when did you split them up? And how did you pick who gets which room?

1: we moved house so moved them straight into their own rooms. Finally my son started sleeping through!!
In the new house, there were two rooms the same size so it was ideal

We moved DD into her own room at 5 months and then DS into his room at 5.5 months. DD was disrupting everyone's sleep so we moved her out and then felt it wasn't far DS stayed with us so moved him out not long after. They have never shared a room since then. We tried for a few nights but they kept waking each other up.

My twins were in with us until about 9 months. First they were in a twin cosleeper cot then about 6 months old one moved to a travel cot at the end of the bed and one stayed in the cosleeper. They were quite little though.

I think OP is asking what age did the twins have separate bedrooms from each other rather than when they moved out of their parents room?

Mine are still babies - boy/girl - I don't have any intention of putting them in separate rooms for the foreseeable future / for as long as I can get away with it - mainly because I have an older DD and the jump from 3 bedroom houses to 4 bedroom houses in our area is massive financially. It may be that my 2 girls end up sharing and my boy has the box room

If I already had a 4 bed and there was unequal room sizes I guess it would have to be names in a hat!

Aged 16 years during lockdown when they got totally fed up with being together all the time.

The option of separate rooms had always been there but they could never agree who got which room until then.

Mine are 7 yrs old and want to stay in the same room. I've offered to give them their own room but they just don't want it. I let them guide me

Not split them up and will not unless they request it when we get a bigger house.
They were in our room until 5 years (beds next to eachother, often both in the same one) then moved in to bottom of bunk beds with their older sisters. School wanted to split them up and we got them to keep them in the same class. They are very close and will sometimes still sleep in the same bed, they are 6.5 years old now.

We moved our twins out of our room into one room and after 1 night put them separately and never looked back! They slept so much better in separate rooms

FreeButtonBee · 16/09/2021 15:06

My B/G twin still share at 8 and a half. They are getting a new bigger room but will still share. Once DTD seems like she needs a bit of privacy then I will put younger DS2 up with DTS. But as they have an ensuite bathroom I think we will get another year or two before we need to do that. They are very close and like being the 'grown up ones' and play boardgames etc at bedtime together. Our house isn't that big so their room is their little haven.

Mine are nearly 5 and still wanting to be together, both girls.

My neighbour with B/G twins a couple months older put them in separate rooms when they had just turned 4.

I don't remember exactly but before they were 1. We did have them in the same room for a while but they were neither of them good sleepers and it was even worse when they were disturbing each other. We initially moved girl twin back into our bedroom while we were sorting the smaller room out for her, as it was an office space at the time. We picked her because we felt she would handle the change better - in sleep terms - than boy twin.
