Twin pregnancy and folic acid

I had a 6 week scan on Friday which showed that I'm expecting twins as a result of my last ivf cycle. Up until this point I've been taking 400mcg of folic acid. Whe. I was at the scan the nurse told me to get a prescription from my gp for a higher dose of folic acid.
Due to covid my gp has a system where you can't actually talk to the doctor, it's all done through text messages. So I never really had a conversation with my doctor about my needs. She ended up just sending out a prescription for 5mg of folic acid (5000mcg) which seems like an awful lot! Is this a common dose with twin pregnancy? I spoke to the pharmacist when I collected them about other supplements, and was told to take pregnecare supplements, which also have 400mg folic acid in. He said that 400 will make no difference as its only 0.4 of the dose I'm already taking?? It just seems alot

Its normal for a raised BMI. It seems excessive to me though, but its not harmful!

Midwife told me I didn’t need surplus folic acid, and just to continue taking Pregnacare.
