What did you wear later in pregnancy?

I'm approaching the limits of my meagre maternity wardrobe. As the weather is starting to change, I figure now is a good time to get a few more bits for the last couple of months of pregnancy, but I'm not sure what will last the full length of it? I'm only carrying in the tummy area, which is not helping.

I've got to continue to be vaguely presentable up until I pop, as I'll have to do school run twice a day, but I'm quite happy to go with a very casual look!

I'm thinking of buying maternity wear in a few of sizes above my usual size? I'm normally a 10, but current maternity wear is a 12. I just don't want to feel swamped in every area but the belly, if at all possible!

I my final stages I only wore only A line style dresses. They fit well around the top and were nice and loose around the stomach area allowing for growth and there was no uncomfortable waistband from trousers or a skirt. If you buy maternity dresses they also usually have a neckline designed for breastfeeding so you can wear them post pregnancy too.

Honestly - I've found it v limiting... I'm now 36.5w and the only thing I can wear is H&M maternity leggings with long tops. It sounds like you are like me - I'm pretty much ALL bump - in fact, while the babies have been gaining weight fine this last 6 weeks, I haven't at all, so I'm actually getting slimmer overall! Confused
I'm usually a 10-12 not pregnant, so I tried sizing up over bump maternity jeans, but a 14 just hung off my legs/bum, but still didn't go over my bump without cutting into it. I am not a dressed sort of person, so haven't really done that other than when it was v hot, so that's limited me, but trouser wise, leggings have basically been the only option for me since 28/30 weeks. I have a few pairs and the H&M ones are by far the best as they don't have an elastic inside the top of them, they are just a double layer of fabric for the over bump bit, so they don't dig in. I have some jojo ones that have the elastic that get uncomfortable by the end of the day due to the band of elastic.

Dresses not dressed! I do like to get dressed!! Grin

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 04/09/2019 10:13

Hiya

Am a similar size and bought Mothercare and Jojo maternity dresses as a PP said, no waistband.

I found maternity tights useless but Marks XL tights were fine for work.

I also bought from other brands like New Look a size up 14.

Knickers, Marks granny pants in a 16. I gave birth wearing those!

You may also not get that big in the end. I was exactly 12 st the day I gave birth to my twins, which is much bigger than I normally am but not off the scale. I never found my clothes didn't fit.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 04/09/2019 10:14

Oh and how could I forget, Mothercare overbump leggings Star

Spanneroo · 04/09/2019 10:57

Hobbes you sound really similar to me. My babies are growing fine but I've only gained 2kg (last scan estimated babies at 1.6kg of that, so I must be losing weight myself)

I really don't like dresses, so have gone with long t-shirts and H&M leggings so far. Will need to find some jumpers in the next week or two, though, as I am starting to get a little chilly in just a t-shirt.

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone!

Oh blimey. I was so enormous that I was in DP's clothes by 34 weeks - he is 8 inches taller than me and has a 52" chest Grin I was size 12 with size 5 feet beforehand, went up to over 100kg and was about to burst out of his size 10 sandals by the time I gave birth! Damn you, water retention.....

Middledistancerunner · 07/09/2019 22:07

A tent by the end! My bump was so big I could hide small children under it and not see them.
Sorry OP but I also went with Maternity leggings and vast t-shirts from H&M, and a cardi on colder days.

Last few months was still wearing lots of different choices but my bump wasn't that big until last few weeks. At the very end the only thing that fitted was 1 pair of maternity jeans. I wore with maternity vest tops and normal cardigans. I had been wearing jumper dresses quite a bit but it was getting to hot as she was born end of April.
