I don't understand colostrum harvesting timing?

So I'm pregnant with MCDA twins and really want to breastfeed. My midwife today has given me all the syringes and instructions needed to harvest some colostrum to freeze prior to the birth.

I am really really confused though. Everything I've read says not to express before 36 weeks... But I'll be having a elcs at 36 weeks!

When should I start hand expressing before the section? Is it safe? I'm currently 23+5 weeks

I would phone your midwife just to check. I've also heard that before 36 weeks it can bring on labour. I think it's worth you getting some extra guidance.

You could try calling the national breastfeeding helpline as well. www.nationalbreastfeedinghelpline.org.uk/
