Does anyone else have twins of a vastly difference size? Do they catch up?

The size difference between my twins just keeps increasing. DT1 is above the 50th centile, while DT2 tootles just below the 2nd.

DT1 seems to dominate everything - she takes all the toys and will pinch all DT2s food if I forget to separate them. She is a lot more mobile and rolls over DT2 and pulls her hair. Instead of fighting back DT2 just cries and looks mournfully at me - it breaks my heart! While I try to be scrupulously fair I find friends and family naturally drawn to DT1 as she is more fun and boisterous.

I wondered if any of you mums with older twins had experienced this and if they caught up in size? Also, what is the best way to deal with it? Do I keep telling DT1 off for taking things or just let them get on with it?

Mine are id and when they were born there was just over 1.5 lbs between them. Now there is probably 4-5 lbs between - they are 4. The little one is about an inch shorter with a size smaller feet (and narrower too). They pretty much wear the same size clothes - although some fall off the littlie, and others are too short for the bigger one.

I would continue to tell off whichever is mean to the other - they sound young and they all ahave to learn what is acceptable behaviour.

They turn one next week - they are ID but are looking less similar as time goes on. Had about a pound between them at birth and now DT1 is 3.5lbs heavier.

Now that yours are older are their any issues with the size difference (does the little one get picked on)? Just interested - I'm so fed up with saying "stop pulling your sister's hair" - I parrot this at least 20 times a day .

for a while the little one sort played the role of being the baby - saying things like he couldn't do something when you knew he could (eg walk rather than being carried). But now he has pretty much stopped that.

And the bigger has gone through a phase of saying I am bigger than x. But again that has pretty much stopped.

To be honest the difference isn't really that noticeable unless they are standing side by side.

Another phase was when they did rough and tumble the little one got more squashed - but now they are both bigger again it is not a problem.

I think it is just a case of siblings working out their natural pecking order, with guidance from you about which limits are not to be crossed.

How about saying - pulling hair is not nic e- it hurts - rather than stop pulling your sisters hair - ie a general rule rather than stop bullying your sister.

Remember the mantra - it is just a phase ()

My 6 year old twins are non-id and there is a huge height differnce between them. Luke is taller (and skinnier) than Jake and always has been, he is more like his dad, Jake is more like me. Luke is actually closer in height to his older brother who has just turned 8 than he is his own twin!

Boys are usually bigger than girls i think anyway.....my girl/boy twins are exact the same at the moment..Kyran used to be bigger but Cerys has caught up and probably a tiny bit taller than him...but Shannon oldest DD was always really tall for her age, whilst the boys have been small for their age.
