Duty rota at playgroup/nursery for twins?

Hello,

My twins will soon be starting a community playgroup (the kind where you drop and leave). Everyone pays a fee per child and parents take a turn on the rota to help out.

Can anyone who's done this let me know if I'll have to do double duty, i.e. Be on the rota twice as often as other parents. I know I'll be taking up two places so theoretically it makes sense, but just wondered what peoples experience was. I might be paying to spend a lot of time at playgroup!

I think not. Fees are per child but helping is per parent.

What do they do for families who have non-twin siblings at the playgroup? Could get very busy if you have 3!

IME helping is per family, but What is a cute and cuddly sweet 8 month old puppy to you, is a bounding, jumpy unpredictable creature with sharp teeth to others.

IME helping is per family, but I only ever went to free, or £1 at most, church/Surestart/NCT groups.

Will depend on the playgroup, I have heard some make you do 2 duties others don't. There is often a fine for not doing a duty which can be impossible if you have a younger child and no help

It totally depends on the playgroup/nursery. You need to ask what their policy is, and negotiate if necessary. If there are plenty of mums/carers to help, then per family would be reasonable. At my DS's playgroup it was 1.5 times duties per term for multiples as it was a struggle to get the needed two helpers each day. I think doubling duties is harsh, and would be offering 1.5 or an extra duty per term if that turns out to be the policy you're stuck with.

I'll ask what their policy is but I don't think they've had twins for a long time (and the age range means there aren't usually siblings there either) - it's good to know what other playgroups have done so I can have a chat to them about it.

We do a snack rota at playgroup. We do it per family, start at the top of the register and work our way through. Some terms I'll be on it more than others. After October is going to be great for us, out of the 10 kids we can have 4 of those are 2 sets of twins 🙈
