Very personal question: have any of you had twins and NOT had stretchmarks?

I am pregnant and all being well will continue with a twin pregnancy. I am 11wks 3 days and my tummy has popped out and my appetite is much more demanding than before. Had two single pregnancies and managed to go from 8.5stone to 10.5 stone and no stretch marks.

Read last night that stretch marks with a twin/multiple pregnancy are inevitable and am hoping that I am going to be contradicted by you MumsNetters!!!

Please tell me if you did have stretchmarks, how much weight you gained. If you didn't have any stretch marks how much weight you gained.

Thank you in advance for sharing your personal information!!!!!

mine were born at 41 weeks and were 5lb 15oz and 6b 13oz, my bump was slightly bigger than with DD and often turned into a very strange shape!

I have a few faint ones, under my breasts and on my thighs , and one on my tummy. I think I got them under by my boobs with the first pregnancy and the rest with twins. I am lucky I think, and agree that it is probably genetic to some extent. I could never be arsed to lather myself up with various potions.
I did have quite small bumps and quite small babies, again genetic I think. Ds1 5.13 at 41 weeks and dt1 and dt2 at 37 weeks at 5.6 and 5lb. There you did ask
Congratulations btw

Thank you everybody for being so honest. I am wondering if any of you took cyclogest which is a progesterone pessary (400mg) to be inserted twice a day? I am taking this and my ob said he will prescribe this until I am 34 weeks to sustain the pregnancy.

congratulations!
i had twins by elective c-section at just under 38 weeks. one was 7 lbs, the other 8lbs (or as near as dammit). i was huge, bigger than a house but didn't get a single stretchmark. this must be genetic as i made no effort to stave them off, having decided that they were inevitable and that creams don't work...
i had a cvs

TinyGang · 12/11/2006 21:56

I have none - mine were born at 37 weeks and were 5lb9 and 5lb10. I did rub stretch mark cream on my bump a lot while I was pregnant and also vitamin E oil. I don't know if that made any difference or if I was just lucky.

I have put on weight though, mostly since having my twins so I can't even blame the pregnancy for that!

triplets · 12/11/2006 22:23

Hi,
I had triplets when I was 46, my first child when I was 27, and not a stretch mark to be seen!

4kids · 13/11/2006 14:31

I've had 3 singleton pregnancies & 1 twin pregnancy & no strechmarks to be seen

TwoIfBySea · 13/11/2006 22:58

I don't have stretchmarks even though my belly at later stages looked similar to the prow of a ship, it entered the room 3 minutes before I did.

I always thought maybe it was because of the amount of scans I had, that gel they put on. That was my joke with dh anyway.

bump for your question on cyclogest....

I haven't had it, or even heard of it. Is there a worry that your body would have a problem sustaining the pg? Or is it routine for your consultant/hospital?

ShouldKnowByFriday · 15/11/2006 16:36

Frumpy, the cycloget is recommended, well certainly by my ob, for a multiple pregnancy to help sustain the levels of progesterone which are essential to carry the pregnancy for as long as poss. I don't know if many obs prescribe it but if it gives a better chance why not.

How interesting, it was never even mentioned to me, first time I've heard of it. You're right, if it helps.....good luck. Bumping for the cyclogest question again.

twingirl · 26/11/2006 21:31

i had cyclogest because I had ivf and I took it as pessaries for 2 weeks after they put the embryos back.

didnt get stretchmarks during pregnancy got them as a result of breastfeeding - very sad boobs now

Congratulations on your twins. . I have a map of the world on my stomach, mostly from my first pregnancy, which was a singleton. The triplets just gave me a few more. They're my battle scars and don't particularly bother me.

triplets · 03/06/2007 23:10

First baby in 1979-no strech marks
triplets in 1998-no stretch marks!
Must take after my mum, she had 5 of us and not a wrinkle or line anywhere, and she`s 79 now!

Tortington · 03/06/2007 23:13

my aunty has one.

i have many.

completelyrunragged · 05/06/2007 14:13

Hi

I gained 2.5 stones with my twin pregnancy, I got a very large bump (all at the front) & didn't bother with stretch mark cream afetr 13 weeks, as my midwife told me that with twin pregnancies, stretchmarks are inevitable, & at my age (33) my skin wouldn't stretch well anyway.

I haven't got one single stretch mark!!!
