Twin girls - hairpulling

Hi all. First antenatal posting. Our girls are 13 months old.
They could not be more different. Their body shapes, skin tones, hair colour, personalities are all utterly different but they're both generally happy girls.

Leila is quiet, independent, studious and gentle.
Caitlin is boisterous, chatty, temperamental, funny and loves attention.

Caitlin, has for the last 3 months or so, being pulling Leila's luscious locks. When she does it, she looks at us and smiles. We've tried ignoring it but that makes no difference. Poor wee Leila hasn't an aggressive bone in her body so just sits and cries. It seems very unfair. When we say 'no' and remove Caitlin from the situation and 'sin bin' her in an adjacent carry cot she thinks it's hilarious too. Whatever we do, she just keeps on doing it.

We're at a bit of a loss.

Watching with interest! My girls are 2 and a half and we have the same issue. Nothing we have done so far has helped, so I'm hoping someone will have some fresh ideas!

My b/g twins are nearly 23 months, have been suffering the same problem. DS is like Leila and DD like Caitlin. For months DD had been increasingly violent with DS, hair pulling and scratching, poor DS just sat and sobbed, nothing worked, every reprimand was met with laughter, I was at my wits end. That was until the day about 4 weeks ago when DS fought back, he pulled DD hair, I didn't intervene for about 20/30 seconds, it was enough for DD to get the idea of how much it hurt. Since then there has only been one incident of hair pulling and scratching.

Ha, McWeedie, I dream of Leila fighting back. But she's such a poppet there's no chance of that happening. I know it's a cry for attention but Caitlin gets LOADS of attention anyway, so we're puzzled.

same here, one went through a phase of biting the other one, they are 8 next, she did grow out of it, she is still the first to nip or slap, but I will say it is usually out of frustration as dd1 has always been more dominant if that makes sense. I would carry on as you are and give her firm no attention for a couple of minutes after removing her, give the other dd a tickle and a cuddle. They are still very little, good luck, they sound lovely!

Oh gosh, mine are 10.5 months and the hair pulling is starting here as well. Watching with interest!

Thought I'd come back to let people how it resolved itself. We kept saying 'ouch' when Cat pulled Leila's hair and she finally took the hint. Stopped pulling hair in early August.

Now, we need try to stop her running on the sofa....

Thanks for the update.. Glad to hear it resolved itself! Mine are currently getting great pleasure out if squeezing and scratching the heck out of each other!
