I didn't - it was the shock of my life, but my friend who has twins was just like you. She kept thinking it might be twins, and it was.

Jojobump1986 · 14/01/2013 13:58

I had a 'feeling' at about the same stage as you. Definitely just the one in there though! Sad I'd got quite attached to the idea!

Poledra · 14/01/2013 14:03

No, I didn't - I had The Fear!! I am a twin, when pg with DD3 (at age 37) was absolutely terrified that there were 2. Fortunately, she was a singleton Smile

TwelveLeggedWalk · 14/01/2013 14:24

I did just before my 12 week scan - I had a sort of daydream about telling my best friend there were 2 in there, and there were. Freaked the life out of me as I'm very 'non-woo'!! Grin

mum23girlys · 14/01/2013 14:30

My dh was convinced I was having twins. He just said he knew. Scan at 10+6 wks confirmed he was right. Scan was early as I was measuring big Grin

twinnies26 · 14/01/2013 15:10

I didn't but my friend and my mother both told me they thought I was having twins before I knew...

Longfufu · 14/01/2013 15:27

Interesting, well I only have 2 weeks to wait until the scan. I'm think I may be shocked if it's only one, although the idea of twins does terrify me.

I didn't and got a big shock at my 12 week scan. I did joke about it leading up to the 12 though.

HappyAsASandboy · 14/01/2013 20:00

I had no idea until the 12 week scan. Huge shock. Boy sure I'm over it yet, and they're two now.

Rowan1204 · 14/01/2013 20:23

Tbh for me it didnt even occur to me that it would happen to me! we even joked about it the morning of the scan! massive massive shock!

SminkoPinko · 14/01/2013 20:50

I had a funny moment rubbing my belly in front of the mirror just after the positive pregnancy test when the word twins popped into my head. I then snapped out of it and forgot all about it until I started bleeding a bit at 6/7 weeks had a scan and 2 prawns were seen inside me. Seems so long ago! My twin babies are 13 now! Nearly 14, in fact.

MrsPresley · 14/01/2013 21:01

I had no idea I was having twins until the midwife said after DD was born, Oh my goodness there's another one coming! or words to that effect.

My exDH wasn't quite as polite Grin

17 minutes later DS was born.

Mind you that was almost 30 years ago, when scans weren't as good as they are now.

thismumismad · 15/01/2013 05:53

I didn't know until my scan at 16 weeks, total shock, I didn't believe her until she showed me the two of them on the screen.

Nancy54 · 15/01/2013 10:21

The night before my scan I dreamt it was twins and it was!

wordfactory · 15/01/2013 10:25

Yes, I did.

My pregnancy symptoms were extreme and super-early. When I went for my 12 week scan, everyone else was still wearing their jeans, I was bursting out of a pair of trousers and was holding the button together with a treasury tag.

The nurse told me she thought I was probably around 20 weeks. I wasn't!

I went into maternity wear the next day. I outgrew said maternity wear at around 24 weeks.

TwelveLeggedWalk · 15/01/2013 10:28

Oh my god MrsP! Did you not suspect from the kicking? It was like a bag of ferrets with me!

TameGaloot · 15/01/2013 10:35

I kept dreaming I was pregnant with twins
I was though Iost one early on

Frates · 15/01/2013 11:04

Didn't have a clue, never even suspected it.

Told at our 12 week scan... shocked wasn't the word!

Was just relieved that everything was OK as I had a bleed at 6/7 weeks (they didn't scan - not hospital policy...)

Part of me still can't believe it! Smile

Oxtailchambermaid · 15/01/2013 14:50

I'm with Frates, didn't have a clue. In fact I'll go one further - didn't realise it was possible with no IVF or no history of twins in the family!

The sonographer didn't tell us until right at the end of the 12 week scan - I just thought the second baby was a floating kidney or something and the machine was beyond amazing in that it could view the baby from all sorts of angles. I honestly thought it was light refraction or something (obviously this was my first pregnancy).

Hope it is twins for you longfufu!

Longfufu · 15/01/2013 18:55

Oh ladies you're so funny. I loved the bit about the floating kidney oxtail. MrsP good god bet that was the shock of your life!

I'm 11 weeks tomo, scan is booked for 31st :)

Took DS to stay and play today and the HV said she thought I would have been further into my pregnancy going by size of my big fat bump. Must stop eating cake

I actually think I'd have a nervous breakdown if it was twins Grin
