Can I share a fleeting moment of twin parent glee?

My 2 1/2 yr old DTs (both boys) began potty training yesterday. All prepared with a drawerfull of Thomas pants and a larder full of chocolate buttons. And 4 potties (2 on each floor). Yesterday, 5 accidents in total (2 of the brown variety - well that was Percy and James straight in the bin).

Today. 1 accident in total, while we were playing in the garden. Not brown. This evening we went out in the car and out for tea and they were as good as gold - came into the loos for a wee between main and pudding (though I felt a tit lugging a potty and a sack of clothes around in the cafe).

I know, I know, they will probably regress tomorrow and it will all go to poo (literally as well as figuratively). But TODAY, ladies, TODAY I will drink wine and celebrate!

Fantastic ! Well done you, I was like a woman possessed training my dts. Such an achievement when you've done it though :)

Well done! I have boy/girl twins and my DD only used the potty for two weeks! Then she was on to the loo, so much easier. Took DS a couple of weeks longer, but like everything else, one 'gets' it and the other copies them. Brilliant Grin

P.S. they are 18 now!!

Grin Thanks ladies. It's taken me ages to bite the bullet but they start preschool at the end of Summer term and need to be sorted by then.

So far I am pleasantly surprised by how they are doing, but there have been a few episodes of gritted teeth while they spend 1/2 hour on the potty squeezing out a teaspoon of wee.

Oh just thought will share my top tip, I have a piss pot :) for when we're out do much easier than a potty,
It's just a Tupperware pot with airtight lid. Obviously only good for when they've cracked the poo's Grin

Aha, great tip, thanks. Yes, I suspect the boys will be happy piddling in a piss pot - today there were a number of widdles in carefully selected locations - on the ONLY tulip we have in our garden; down a hole in a drain cover; on the leg of my picnic chair (I wasn't in it at the time).

Hoping to progress them to the toilet asap!

Grin the worse thing dt2 pissed in was his drink cup then tried to drink it!

Ah well done, feel proud of yourself, as it takes ALOT of patience indeed:) Mine were happy doing wee-ing on the potty - often side by side, so cute- but the poos, well they took a while longer. Found asking them lots helped and making them sit after lunch and breakfast helped...but i did get stressed about the pooing as they would wait till nappies were put on at nap/bed time to do one - so cunning!!! In the end after much stressing, we dispensed of nappies full stop and it was fine. Mine were only just gone three by this time, and im glad i waited as it wasnt as stressful as it could have been. Hope it continues to go well!!!!

My boy DTs were very easy to potty train too - maybe being obsessively competitive about everything helped Wink

Well done - now enjoy those chocolate buttons yourself!

Well done, enjoy your Wine. This will be me in a few months time, I can't wait...

Welldone you!! Very impressive for first day!
I will be watching this thread with great intensity.. I have 2.6YO DTriplets and it makes me feel a little queasy when I think about potty training them...

sandyballs · 10/04/2012 22:26

Well done, I'm impressed you're doing them together, I gave up trying to potty train two at a time and put one back in pull ups.
