Hi
DTs are 7wks (well 8 wks on Tueaday), dts is 11lb and dtd is 7lb5 (4lb at birth). Dts is showing signs bless him of longer sleeps at night and I am waking him to feed cos dtd wakes. I think he would go 5-6 hrs between feeds now if left. Short term much more pain to wake more times and reduce my sleep to about 2 hrs probably if I leave him to sleep and find his own pattern but could be fab long term if he was to sleep well, maybe start missing the 3ish feed, and then maybe sleep through in another 6 wks or so (am I mad for daring to dream???!!!) so..... Does anyone have any experience of 'routineing' one dt and not the otherand is it worth it??!
Thankyou
Lala

We ended in a similar situation to yours and did have them on separate routines. At 7 weeks DS was 12.9 and DD 9.11 lb. There was a 3.5 lb difference at birth. DS could always manage more at each feed than DD, so she tended to have an extra feed a day until they were on solids.

Thinking back (few years now!) how we worked it at night was we fed one each around 10pm then I took DD when she woke (1/2 ish), DH took DS around 3 and then I took DD again at 4/5 ish. Around 5 weeks DS started doing the 5-6 hour stretches you mnetion and even slept through 10-6 on occasion. DD started the same around 8 weeks if I remember correctly. By 12 weeks they were both mostly going from 8/9pm to 5/6am.

I think given the difference there was an advantage in getting more sleep at night. I didn't ever really try to keep them on the same schedule but can't imagine DS would have been very easy to wake for a feed and he'd certainly have taken a lot.

I didn't really plan anything, just went with what they were doing but it did work well for us in the end. Good luck!
