money saving costs with twins

I'm expecting twins in November and thought I'd share some tips on how to afford equipment for twins on a low budget.
The only things you need to buy new are cot mattresses and car seats. Everything else can be second and ,, and there is some good quality stuff out there!
I got 2 cots for 35 quid, and 4 boxes of clothes for 30 quid (all form ebay, clothes looked unworn)

try looking at:

Freecycle
Ebay
charity shops
second hand shops

I've got a lot of stuff this way at low cost..and all in excellent condition!

My two started out in one cot, top and tailed, for the first few months, until we could afford a second one.

Worked fine, the never woke each other, even if one was howling and to be honest I think they slept better being close.

Also If you're shop online this is a good one to join, It gives you money back.

Local Twin clubs often have equipment and other things from older twins to pass down.

There is also another website with a very similar name to this one which has a Wanted/For Sale Notice board and they quite often have things going very cheaply or for free.

Oo this is just what I was looking for!
I really thought I'd have to shell out £50 for a cot but you're quite right, only the mattress needs to be new.

Worth remembering that if you have a dryer - you can get away with very few clothes / linens.

eg my DTs only ever had three sleeping bags between them - one each and one for emergency poo incidents. You can wash, dry stuff and have it back on in less than 3 hours.

They have had 4 shared 4 pairs of shorts all summer

You really dont need that much stuff

Get friendly with a set of twins about 18 months older than yuours. I never bought a thing as they passed everything our way!
