My 7yr old daughter Paris was hit by a car on sun the 7 augast she was really brave as she dragged her self out of the road with a horrible leg injury ( her leg was all twisted up & back to front ).Paris was really lucky the only injury she recieved was a broken leg she had to endure 3 operations in 5 days to try & correct the leg they was going to put a metal plate in but thought it to risky cos she has a lot of wounds on the leg & it could get infected. Cos Paris carries Sickle Cell Trait they had to be carefull of the oxygen intake during the operations which was a bit of a worry for me as i thought they might forget.Paris came home yesterday(12th)with a full plaster cast right up to her bum & she has a kiddi zimmer frame she'll be in plaster for 6 weeks she's so brave my little star.

bossykate · 13/08/2005 13:49

how awful. she is so brave. hope she makes a speedy and complete recovery.

4kids · 13/08/2005 18:23

BIGLIPS- the driver did stop he was trying to comfort paris it wasnt his fault. It happened outside my house & paris was playing with her friends & she was crossing the road but standing behind a big van her friend said not to cross yet as a car was coming but Paris thouhgt her friend was joking & walked out infront of the car .He wasnt travelling fast or it would have been alot more serious. The road where we live isnt a busy road & most people driving through know there are kids about & drive carefully.

How awful for you and her, 4kids.
I hope she makes a full and speedy recovery - she sounds a very brave little girl.
My eldest dd had a very similar accident a few years ago (walked out from between parked cars and was hit by a car, also fortunately going slowly) and although she recovered physically relatively quickly, mentally it took longer.
I also hope you're okay - I remember it took me ages to get over the shock

NannyL · 20/08/2005 23:09

oh poor thing

i hope she gets better soon... i was hit by a car travelling at 50mph when i was 16...

i was VERY badly injured (nearly died) and they nearly amputated my leg but 5 operations and 2 years down the line i was off crutches (finally) and now my leg is completly fine (8 years later)

i just have a few scars

i really hope she makes a speedy recovery and is out of hospita soon... (I was in for a month)

i hope her leg recovers as much as mine did

Amai · 01/09/2005 11:59

The poor dear how awful. She sounds very brave i hope she recovers quickly.

Toothache · 01/09/2005 12:12

4kids - How is she now?

4kids · 01/09/2005 15:27

Paris is still in a full leg plaster cast & will be having it taken off in 3weeks .She will need crutches to walk with & lots of physio. We finally got a wheelchair for her a couple of weeks ago from the red cross who only wanted a £40 donation now we can go places without Paris getting tired.

Glad to hear that she is recovering 4kids.

My cousin's son was hit by a bus. Silly boy was messing about on his mobile, got off of one bus, walked round the back of it and didn't take his eyes off his phone.

It was months before he was let out of hospital. His brain was badly shaken. He's fine now... but boy he gave us all a scare.

I hope her limp goes soon. Love and kisses to you all.

tamula · 14/11/2005 11:58

Fantastic news! Do you know if the limp is likely to be long or short term?

Lets hope for short, hope physio goes well and she doesnt hate it!

4kids · 17/11/2005 10:35

Limp should be short term Paris doesnt mind the physio she loves all the attention.
