My husband is basically 100% muscle (I'm not complaining hehe) and our kids are quite strong and fit. He does special muscle stretches when they are babies.

However I was gobsmacked when my 4th child stood up about 3 hours after being born! Obviously I held his arms as he couldt balance, but he was standign and putting all his weight on his feet. Which explains the terrible stomach ache I had carrying him lol.

He does resemble his father physically and is all muscle. I have never heard of a baby standing up the first day they were born - has anyone else had this?

this is a natural reflex in a healthy full term newborn. google 'stepping reflex' ps, dh is also built like a brick shit house. the dds were both v early with their gross motor skills but this standing thing is different from that.

oops and standing reflex too. babies are borned with a lot of primitive responses which is what have made us who we are and survive through the millions of yrs of evolution.

congratulations on your new baby btw.

Congratulations.

Yes they also lift each leg up if you support them at the hands as you did. Quite normal and healthy for a newborn, regardless of heredetary muscular build.

That sounds pretty incredible - I would have high hopes for his sporting future!!
