An Odd one - the Italian children singing festival Zecchino D'oro

Really don't know where to post this.

My hs and mil are adamand my not even three year old ds should try for the Zechhino D'oro singing festival.

Any ideas of it's reputation. I've googled this and although it appears to be an international festival it doesn't seem to have any meaning at all unless you're in Italy.

I'm dead against doing this as a) my ds isn't a performing bear b) mil/dh don't care about the international part of it and just trying to make ds more Italian (as they are) c) ds has speech issues and is not great in crowds or performing for people.

I don't think it's right for my little one for a plethora of reasons - but can anyone tell me anything good about this festival. Indeed, has anyone heard of it?

Can anyone persuade me otherwise?

No idea where I should have really posted this!

OMG I used to love it!

Have very strong memories of taping it, learning all the lyrics and singing my heart out with the tape on full volume for weeks after it was broadcast

Obviously this was ages ago, but at the time it had a good reputation and it was considered to be a 'good thing' for kids to watch during the holidays (that was my perception anyway).

Haven't watched it for ages, but from what you say, it doesn't seem it would be fair to put your child through it.

Your MIL sounds lovely
