Hello,
I'm Chinese (speak Cantonese not Mandarin though) and would like to meet with other Chinese mums in my area.

My 6month old boy is half Chinese/ half English and I am worried that he will not be able to ever speak Cantonese because my Cantonese is so awful.

Any other mums with the same problem?

hi pixie, where abouts are you in kent? no idea where TN13 is

i live in south east london and kent isnt very far for me at all.

i have the same worry and i dont speak to my kids in cantonese at all. i've just come to accept that they may never speak cantonese. we do see my family loads though so they do have a strong sense of their culture. DD1 who is 6 insists that she is chinese rather than english.... which I encourage fully

Hi

I am a BBC (British Born Chinese) and I would like to get to know some chinese mums in the Greenwich/Bexley/Eltham areas. I speak Cantonese but not fluent. Please contact me and we can chat some more.

I have an 8 year old called Daniel and a 14 month old called Bradley.

Hi, did any of you guys manage to meet up? I came to the UK when I was six, and just managing to speak to DD who is 3 in Cantonese but she is answering back in English already. Would be great to meet some more Cantonese speakers. I am out in the stick near Cambridge though.....

Sorry I've been offline for a bit. I had another baby. This time a girl who is now almost 8 months.

Again, same worries with her about the whole cantonese thing. My family are all in Australia so there isn't even that luxury of having them around so that the children can hear us conversing in Cantonese. I do play the Hong Kong radio to them online although I don't think they 'get it'.

I would still love to meet up if anyone is interested.

Hello Pixiepatty
While we do not live in Kent we are not a million miles away from you. We live the Sutton area of Surrey. We don?t know any Chinese/mixed race families in our home area. In the meantime if you would like to chat and exchange ideas that would be great.
My wife is Chinese and I?m English and we both want our son to be aware culturally of both sides of his family history (which is quite a mix with English, Scottish and Danish grandparents on my side and obviously Chinese on my wife?s side).
