Just out of curiosity.. it requires at least three visa applications to settle in the UK and each visa application costs about £2,500. I'm wondering if you solely paid for the application fees because you're the applicant or you shared the cost with your spouse.

We used both our income. Does not matter who is paying.

Depends on how you do things as a family anyway and your culture I guess. How do you pay all family expenses normally? In my family all our income is pooled and expenses paid out of combined income. Does one of you not actually want this move? In my opinion if it benefits the family and keeps them together then it is a family expense.

I paid for the initial marriage visa out of monetary gifts I was given by other family (a couple decades ago when the fee for that was closer to £500).

If I hadn't gotten that, my husband and I would have paid it together just as we did the indefinite leave to remain fees, the later BRP fees which we paid for twice so so I could then go on to naturalization fees and get the naturalization certificate in the name I wanted - my country of origin is a major pain about name changes, and the Home Office only does documents in the name on passports (though they'll take evidence in other names too as long as there is evidence that it's you) so I had to pay some fees to a solicitor to get the new paperwork my birth country wanted for the name change and the new passport which we paid together.

Those kind of financial things have been combined since we've lived together.
