Hi,

I'm pg (9 weeks) with baby no 1 and I am BBC chinese living in Yorkshire - having moved away for 18 years and lived down south and Singapore for a couple of years. I was wondering of there were any local chinese mums near me (I know there is another chinese mums thread but I felt like I was hijacking it as it had been going on for years and most of the mums there are based in London) .

I'm looking for new friends and now that I am expecting, I have so many things I would love to discuss like - when to teach the baby chinese, chinese / english names that my non chinese friends would not really be able to comment! ...I speak Hakka and understand cantonese, my parents can speak hakka, cantonese and mandarin...my DP is english....so get in touch and let see if we can get a thread going !

Hi Yimmy

I'm not Chinese but just thought I'd let you know that theres a fab bunch of mums that live in and around Barnsley.
They actually have their own thread going and they meet up often.

Where are you now ? I know what you mean - I moved away for 18 yrs, parents still live here so visited every few months, but now I'm back I don't want to move away so ended up dragging my DP with me (he's from MK), but he loves it here too - so much more relaxed and I love how you can talk to anyone - even strangers in shops etc, whereas darn south try speaking to anyone and they would think you had just escaped from a mental asylum

Have you ever been to the spa thingy?

We're in North Yorkshire now.
Tis lovely here but very different to Barsnley.
My dh is from Barnsley. We lived in Mapplewell on the new estate near the coop.
It was lovely being able to just wander into the village and talk to anyone and the mum and toddler group was fab too.
