Skin care products for mixed race baby?

Looking for your recommendations for skin care products you use on your mixed race baby? Baby due in a few weeks so want to start stocking up on products now!

So far on my list is Burts Bees, Child's Farm, Aveeno Baby, Weleda - has anyone used these products?

Hi coco butter, Vaseline or baby oil wouldn't bother with anything else

Also I would be watching as many you tube videos about hair as you can

I use the johnsons naturals cream on mine.

Not sure why their skin needs anything different to any other baby though?!!

umiaisha Thanks for your tips too! Are you dark skinned? I ask as you said why does mixed race babies "need anything different to other babies".

I didn't say they need anything different or a special product, I asked what products people used on their mixed race babies skin as darker skin is different to white skin.

I have black skin and it is well known that black/mixed race skin is very sensitive and is prone to dryness and dark spots if left unmoisturised or the wrong moisturiser is used. black/mixed race skin tends to be dry and on dark skin especially can get dry flakes giving an ashy appearance. Which is why anyone's recommendations on what products they used, particularly on mixed race skin would be really helpful for me!

Jem I am mixed race and have used 'ordinary' products all my life. My skin has never had dark spots or looked ashy. I have been complimented on numerous occasions as to how smooth my skin is.
My hair however, is a different story

I've just remembered - avoid Sudocrem. That makes brown skin look ashy. My ds is a bit darker skinned than me, and it doesn't sink in on his skin, it looks grey.

I like Shealife whipped Shea butter for my DC- esp in winter when their skin really suffers this climate and heating.

Jem - I'm white, but kids are mixed race.

Apologies for sounding ignorant, I was just always under the impression that it was just regular, good moisturising that was important rather than a specific product for black/mixed race skin. The Johnsons cream is really effective though and smells gorgeous!

Just whatever you would use on any ethicities skin. I would avoid vaseline (petrolium oil) , baby oil (mineral oil) etc all processed by products of petrolium aka petrol- load of cheap rubbish that sits on the skin and cloggs it.
Your ideas for more natural products are much better and moisturise the skin. Dehydrated skin needs h2o so products with glycerine and water and dry skin needs oil- coconut oil, shea butter and jojoba are great. Enjoy x

Also the skin isnt any different per se, its just that flakes and dryness are more obvious to the eye against a darker background, hence people with darker skins tend to use cream daily to avoid the ashy look. Yes i have dark skin.

My friend used nothing but coconut oil on her baby until she was two. Hair and skin and her hair is absolutely lush and has really grown compared to her other dd that she didn't start that with.

With my two my dd has had eczema since she was a baby so any oil makes it worse but double based gel has always been fine.

My ds is darker and his skin is tougher and dryer then dds but no eczema. Double based gel leaves his skin ashy by the afternoon. I use a cocoa butter (not Palmers as that's not thick enough) from a ethnic hair and beauty shop and have always put coconut oil in the bath water.
