Advice needed on how to make a decent curry (chicken or goat)

I would love a fairly authentic West-Indian recipe with potatoes in it. Have asked mum in law but she is one of those infuriating cooks who never measures anything and I need guidance as I don't trust my own judgement. Also I know often the curry goat is actually lamb so it doesn't have to be a goat recipe !!

A previous thread discussed this, here

Thanks v much speedymama. I am going to print off that thread and try different recipes. I work in Lewisham. Are there any butchers you could recommend? Also does one have to cook with vegetable oil or could I use Olive oil?

Plummy, for the butchers, just head for any of the busy ones on the high street that is frequented by lots of black people. I have used olive oil in the past to make curry goat/lamb but I actually think it is better with the vegetable oil. I don't know why but it just seems to taste better.

Yeah that's what I thought (re. the oil)but I thought I'd ask as olive is healthier. Thanks will look out for the black butchers !!
