Hello!!!

I am not sure what age bracket young is, but i'm 34 single mum with DD who is now 2.6 yrs. I am of Pakistani origin, all my family live 'up north'.

My DD is a real handful and I have been going through a bit of a tough time (just recovered from 8 months of a viral illness) but am feeling like I am getting a bit of the old self back now.

ameli · 30/08/2006 22:15

hello,

nice to hear from you vindaloo, love the name by the way. My family are up north as well, where are you from originally then? Pretty mum, well you are lucky that your children are so well behaved, bet you could teach us first time mummys a thing or too. Where Do you like to eat in Ilford? it all seems same old same old to me!

Vindaloo · 02/09/2006 21:35

Hi Ameli my family are from Pakistan orginally, I was born and bred here.

I have been living in Brighton for about 10 years now and love it as its by the sea, which is great for kids.

ameli · 03/09/2006 14:44

hello, so what made you choose to live in Brighton? do you see your family much?, i love Brighton for days out sea breeze and relaxation.

Vindaloo · 03/09/2006 22:08

Hi there, I am a visual artist and knew that I didnt want to live in London, which is what a lot of artists do. I knew that I wasnt that ambitious in trying to make something of myself as its so hard to do that in London and I think you had toi be mega driven.

One of my good friends was living in Brighton at the time and I heard from a lot of people that brighton is sometimes seen as 'London by the sea' so I thought what the heck, lets give it a go and I just felt at home ever since.

I try to see my family every 3 months. It started to be a nightmare getting the train on my own for the long journey with DD. I now fly from Southampton to leeds, which is easier to do.

ameli · 04/09/2006 14:50

ooh visual artist eh? sounds veryinteresting i dont have a clue what that is . Please eleborate, i have met a cople of other young asians on this site and have remained good friends with them, do you come down to east london at all? shame you live so far away, there are a group pf us that regularly meet up and im sure you would really enjoy the things we organise, meal ot, take away nights in tea at one anothers houses. Im currently looking in to a spa day.

Vindaloo · 04/09/2006 21:06

I make sculptures using textile materials, its really hard to explain and always makes me sound mad!! (but i'm not - honest!!). I am also an arts project manager and do lots of projects on arts and education with groups and at the moment focusing on school kids.

Thats great that there is a group of you that meet up, yes it would be difficult for me to join in because of living further away from you guys and being a single mum. But keep me posted on what you guys are planning and you never know I may be able to arrange something, which would be fab.

ameli · 05/09/2006 09:25
