Talk to me about moroccan oil for mixed race hair

I have struggled with DD's hair; we were using Herbal Essences conditioner to wash & then leave in which was OK but a bit crispy

THEN they changed the formula

Her cousins gave her some Moroccan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner & the Intense Curl Cream and her hair is so soft - but her curls are a bit frizzy & undefined

So are there any downsides to Moroccan Oil stuff? Does it leave a build up?

Is there anything in the range to ease the frizz or define the curls?

One of my friends suggested the moroccan oil to me. It totally depends on the hair of your child, but for hers it worked wonders...for my daughter it was way to heavy and greasy.

My daughters hair is pencil size tight curls, but very fine, soft, "white" texture if that makes sense. I also was using herbal essence but stopped. Now I am no shampoo, just conditioning with Inecto coconut moisturising conditioner.

I have tried Bumble and Bumble curl cream. Its super expensive, and did work but again was a tad to heavy/crunchy. Now I am using Mixed Chicks kids leave in conditioner. Just three pumps and finger comb through wet hair. Then air dry or dry with diffuser. Its by far the best thing I have ever tried. Amazing defined curls! I am hooked. Sticking with this for now.

(it still needs fixing after a nights sleep, but if you wash in morning or before an event where you want great hair, its the best)

But of course I have no idea if your childs hair is like mine:)

Mixed chicks didn't work for us but it was a few years ago we tried it

It's the Intense curl cream we tried & liked so I'm bidding for some on eBay - but it is all so expensive

We haven't used shampoo for ages but did try the Moroccanoil one which left it feeling lovely, not dry or crispy at all

Try going to a special Afro Caribbean shop or market stall and they should be able to advise you. I would recommend either the soft and free range or I think the other brand is called pink.

morrocan oil a.k.a argan oil is A M A Z I N G! literally i cannot fail this oil at all. my children are all mixed white euro/black caribbean. my daughters hair inparticular is dry and coarse around the back of her head and though i use dark & lovely beautiful begginings aswell as loreal on her hair, i can always rely on argan oil to give extra moiture without the grease! also it has completely cleared up my eldest sons eczma! weve been through all different oils and creams, even went to a specialist but seriously the minute my mum gave me a bottle of argan oil, theres no more itching. and it absorbs quite quickly and isnt at all greasey and literally only need abit because a little goes a long way. seriously i have 3 bottles of this stuff (thanks to mum) and its taking me aaaages to get through it all. ill probably still have some byh the next year. i cannot stress to you enough how good it is. mixed chicks and belnded beauty were just too expensive for me to buy (because youd need the shampoo, comditioner aswell as styling creme, detangler etc) you can get a bottle of argan oil on amazon for about 10 pounds i think. the only exception i have to argan is coconut oil but even though its nice, itis greasey!

I have to just say. That the more I talk to other people...the more I am realising that with mixed hair the only way forward is through trail and error.

I love the argan oil for skin, but on my daughters hair it is a greasy mess!

I keep trying things that other people recommend and it doesnt work. Too heavy or not moisturising enough...because with the way the dna/gene pool works each mixed hair is of a different texture,curl, length, colour,etc. So what works for one child does not necessarily work for another.

I am still trying to find the right simple combing conditioner for the bath, to use everyday in place of shampoo...
any suggestions?
