Yes when I used to live in Cricklewood there were a lot of things about it that were similar to living in a village. The shopkeepers were very friendly and remembered you by name. I liked the mix of racial origins and the way everyone blended together.

and strangers talk to me and my children on the street .. it helps, I find, if you smile pleasantly and give people some of your time

yes, lived in London for about sixyears abd worked there until I had children. i loved it and would still live there now but dh hates the noise and traffic and wants green stuff.
i found it very friendly.
lived in Clapham and later Leytonstone.
always worked centrally
never had to stand when i was pregnant on the bus or tube
