did your mixed race babies always have thick curly hair?

I am white, husband is black...
so far baby's hair is very manageable, like mine when I was little ( i have wavy hair)... baby is almost 1 year.

when did the tight curls come in or did they ever? just wondering if I should stock up on some of the great afro hair products here in the states while i am here on holiday..

Difficult to say - my mixed race children have got varying degrees of curliness. My DN (also mixed race) has got wavy hair but DS1's hair is pure afro...

I would definitely stock up on afro products while you are in the States though.

I wouldnt bother with the hair products TBH, at this stage your childs hair can change a lot and you really have no way of knowing what texture it will be so buying products now doesnt really make sense?

Whereabouts do you live normally?

Large cities tend to have shops where you can buy hair products and if not there is always online.

google search as to what products are good for whatever type texture your child ends up with [google forum posts or reviews]

You dont want to waste money getting the wrong product.

Also some products go a bit off after too long.

I'm mixed, and my hair is very curly, but not 'afro' curls - the texture isn't springy and it is too 'white' to be relaxed (see profile pic). My sister's is also curly, but it is nowhere near afro at all: it's a white person's hair!

But I also know mixed race women with genuine afros, and others inbetween.

If the hair is manageable, be happy by the lessened workload!

3 of my kid's hair was straight and black when they were born, another had very curly hair. I have four boys, one has an afro type hair, one has very wiry black hair, one has very soft european type brown hair, and one has browny blonde afro
