I've had a letter asking for my child care contract, childcare bills, payslips, p60's and my DLA award letter

I've never had to send anything like this before (dc's are 8 and 4) - do they think i'm being fraudulent?

Maybe a random thing that they do from time to time - like when they select you for a tax inspection? Payslips though?? I don't actually keep all mine - once I see the money is in the bank account ok, I shred it.

I'd call the tax credit helpline and ask them about this. I've never been asked to provide this info, I have recieved a letter from them asking me to call them to review the details though. I wouldn't send off such personal information without checking this to be honest.

PuppyMonkey · 08/06/2010 16:53

Yes, I called them about something once and they asked if i would mind doing a review on the phone, so I did. They never mentioned sending off any proof of anything I told them though, just took my word for it (and gave me some more money to boot ).

i've asked a couple of people and they've never been asked for it either - i can't get through to the helpline..................................i really hope they don't mess around with my award - we rely on that money A LOT

Its probably a random check by the compliance team.

Check the address is definately HMRC and if so send it pronto!

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 08/06/2010 22:41

The compliance team get you to phone them up.

blushingm · 09/06/2010 18:14

that's it the letter was from a woman on the compliance team in my local office which i thought was wierd as normally it's preston or glasgow isn't it?

Yes, the compliance office is somewhere random, no where near the tax credit address on the notices. I phoned them up and asked about the letter.
