ok, before my fingers bleed, can anyone tell me if they know of a car insurance firm who will insure my car in europe for up to a year? My car is and, will remain, uk registered but I will be going to Italy for several months. I have googled and come up with only one so far. There must be more.

HELP please thanks

I just read the back of my insurance policy and it says on there that they insure all countries in the EU. It stated that my policy replaces the green card (whatever that is or was?) and that I am insured to drive in the EU too. I didn't know it, hadn't asked for it even, it was just something i read this morning when i got the docs ready to tax the car. Lucky i read it really. That was with churchill. Check the back of your policy, you may have something similar.

thank you, does it show a limited time though? Most seem to cover you for up to 90 days and LV will do it for 180. Ideally I'd like it for 10 months. Thanks

really sorry as DH has got it in the car and he's now at work. I can't recall it saying a time limit - maybe i am completely wrong and read something completely off. When he gets in I will check it for you. Hope you find the answer in the meantime.

Most will not cover over 90 days. Take out insurance in Italy.

Just to update for anyone interested, LV do one for up to 180 days, Stuart COllins does one for the whole year as does ECarinsurance who are underwritten by Aviva. Going to take the ECar one which is £295 tpf&t for 2 named drivers. Not bad considering my renewal was going to be £240. Took me almost a day to find it though. Now i've just got to look for breakdown cover but thats not so urgent.
